Securing the mut.

So far with my Lurcher I have just been riding with the hood up on the sidecar. Turns out the hood has a top speed of around 70MPH, I looked down on my way back from work and the cover had blown right back and the dog was sat in unsecured he was good as gold and stayed tucked down behind the screen but it had me worried. I have now replaced two of the front side car tub to frame fixings with ring nuts on the inside so I have something to tie off too, I can also run one or two leads from the back under the seat. So do I run all of those to a central ring with a short lead up to a chest harness or the back ones to a chest harness and the fronts to his collar or all the leads straight to a harness. He seems to like to ride either totally on the seat or with his back end on the seat and his front legs on the floor looking out the screen.

Kippers big ride

My Border Collie 'Kipper' completed his first IBA SaddleSore 1600k (SaddleSore 1000 miles) ride last weekend. Not a bad effort for an 8 year old mutt.

He will be on the certificate I receive, but cannot become an IBA member in his own right as a 'pillion'. He's done 13,000 kms in the rig since last Christmas, and many thousands before that in a pillion box on the back of the R1150GS and my earlier R1150R.

Rescued by a sidecar

Last year my wife was attempting to adopt a German Shepherd. Many dead ends when dealing with many adoption agencies. We then inquired about a beautiful girl named Bella who was rescued the day before she was to be euthanized. She had recently had a litter and she was roughly 2 years old and was dropped off at a rescue shelter anonymously, that's all they knew about her. She was located in Tennessee and we in Massachusetts, so she had to transported up to the east coast. After many phone interviews, house visits and countless emails Bella "came home" just before Christmas. I can not say what a joy she is and how she has an endless abundance of love to give. She does not appear to have been abused or neglected - just abandoned.

Our last German Shepherd was my faithful monkey :) So naturally Bella would be offered the same position. It has been several months of baby steps into the sidecar, short trips up and back the drive way slowly up and down the street and this weekend we finally mustered up enough enthusiasm to take full on adventure ride! She loved it (how can't you right??!) Anyway enjoy some shots - Our ride was to the local rescue league fundraising event - how appropriate huh?

If you have the chance to adopt a pet please consider doing so, saving a life of an innocent animal is about the most selfless thing you can do.

This was her first big ride from this weekend: (My son at the Wheel in this shot)

Here's our Christmas card (with our two Pugs):

Nice video with the GoPro. Your dog looks absolutely in heaven riding in the car.

Kind of misleading since they raised their price 25% over MSRP.
That being said they are $4.90 cheaper than directly from Doggles but Doggles has a code for free shipping.
