Thought it was interesting that Doug Bingham, Sidecar
Industry Council President, Owner of Side Strider and past USCA
President and world famous Champion sidecar racer Eric Oliver had
something like this in common.

Doug once took a BMW R60 with a production sidecar and raced it at
the AMA National Sidecar Road Race at the famous Laguna Seca circuit
in California, Circa 1974.
Doug, with passenger Pam Stone finished in a creditable 10th place
position.
Note: This was a stock BMW cycle with a street sidecar - racing
against a full field of real road racing sidecars...

Years earlier Eric Oliver (Well known former British Sidecar
Champion)
competed in the 1958 Isle of Man Sidecar T.T. race riding a Norton
Dominator 88 hooked to a standard Watsonian Monaco. Oliver with his
passenger Mrs.Pat Wise, finished in the top ten collecting a Bronze
Replica for their efforts.

If you want to see LIVE sidecar racing, the USCRA still has a few sidecar classes that are well populated.

It is just your typical lion in a sidecar on the side of an old race car acting as a monkey. Pretty straight forward stuff.

I sat at a red light the other day and laughed hysterically thinking about that picture.

I mean a freaking lion. they have any mishaps in there it could get real ugly real quick. and the thing is just sitting there enjoying the ride.

god damn what a sight. any idea where and when that picture is from?

I posted that pic here in hacks last year then deleted it. Not everyone deserves to see it.

I had the name of the woman but can't find it now. ^%$##!

There is some info here: http://www.thrillarena.com/Lion_Drom...n_dromes1.html
