That's the quote of the day. And the ammo cans came in handy one other time. It definitely prevented my foot from getting caught between a rock and a hard place, literally. I was able to step out, pick it up and be on my way before Kevin could get his camera out.

I know they are open on Sundays but I think they just may be closed on Mon. or Tues.

Hey HARDCORE! Great riding with you guys Saturday and thanks for showing me around. I posted a trip report, http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...83#post6906383 let me know if any of my information is incorrect.

I'm trying to get things together for the Tellico run in a couple weeks, I think I've used up all my vacation time planning the TAT run , I'll keep you posted...

Alright SalsaBoy, finally got the oversize Clarke tank on today! Just gotta get the new handlebars and front tire on and then we're ready for Tellico in 2 weeks. We need to make a long run (like yesterday!) sometime this week or weekend to test my new mileage range. I think most claim 160-180 so we'll see...

Monday May 12th

Anybody still interested in a FR type D/S ride?

vfrcauv has picked a good place for me to meet him and several others have expressed an interest, so tell me how does this plan/route sound?

It's still just my suggestion....so lets nail down the times and places so we can put the word out.



9am Texaco in Fallston (hwy 18)

zig zag some back roads past South Mtn maybe visit an old fire tower and continue up past Lake James to Old NC 105 up the west side of the Linnville Gorge maybe explore a spur road if it's open. Then stop for lunch and give others a chance to meet up. LINK

12noon Famous Louises for lunch

then head down toward Wilson Creek (rte very flexible) maybe run FR192 and Maple Sally and whatever else is in between or that time allows. Then to the next meeting spot. part1 LINK part2 LINK(map doesn't show Maple Sally as through, but it is)

4:15pm at the gas station in Collettesville

route after that point TBD

It's been way too long since I've ridden D/S in that area...so I'm am looking forward to it.

"Little Valdez" is making noise about wanting to go. Lemme see if I can get the decks cleared before the weekend. Been using too many points up lately.

BTW...just learned some cool licks in "sawmill" tuning on the banjo

Check and see if your route would cross ours and maybe we could meet you 1/2 way to the lunch stop or something. LINK ...or wherever.

I'm making a fast road trip tomorrow to Charlotte to pick up a bike. My riding buddy is coming with and we will be on the quest for sole killer BBQ! Figure we'll eat on the way back between Charlotte and Greenville. I know somebody knows what I'm talking about, back yard, hole in tha wall bbq shack, might have sawdust on the floor, definately has sweet smelling smoke rising up into the sky. Your help would be appreciated by a couple of bbq lovers from Georgia!
