Hey what's the local weather-man saying about wind in the hills tomorrow?

Monday's ride is posted on a couple of boards....here's a copy and paste concerning winds from carolinariders.com

Monday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 60. Windy, with a northwest wind between 23 and 26 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.


BUT...let me know if you'd rather not go.....high winds might cut into the fun factor....

Yikes! I saw the wind forecast, but not the prospects of rain.
Tuesday works as good for me if this gets called.

I think this turkey hunter was as freaked outas I was coming face to face with a 2 wheeler Funny think is, I almost made it. My left ammo can clipped the front of the bumper, sent the big green pig into a wobble and finally went down. Shoulder is pretty sore today but I'll survive.

Canteen boy saw the whole thing and was very surprised that I almost made it too! Luckily we didn't have to post this over in Face Plant!

The truck came around a blind corner and one of the ammo cases on the KLR barely nicked this guy's front bumper before SalsaBoy went down trying miss him and get back more on his side of the rode. You can also see the skid marks where he was sliding trying to miss the truck, and the little dark green mark on the corner of that guys bumper. All in all, very lucky it was no worse than it was. The guy was pretty cool about it, no police report or insurance info exchanged...just that guy's statement of "awe, that'll probably buff out" before leaving us to terrorize Maple Sally some more. Funny thing is, we've ridden that road a lot and hardly ever pass anybody, but today we passed 3 vehicles before even getting half way through. Guess the warm weather brings out all the Sunday drivers!

I'm glad your OK...I hope it's just soreness in that shoulder.

I've had more than one close call in those kind of one-lane blind corners up there.....but none as close as that.

It looks like everything is moving through faster than forecast down here anyway...Again, any locals have an opinion?

I'll keep checking to see if this system is going "wrap back around" and hit the "back side" of the mtns from the NW again........if it looks bad for this route, maybe we can head over your way and ride Worlds Edge or something if the weather looks better in that direction...what do you guys think about that?

After the "incident", we required a stop at Betsy's Store for moment to clean out the lungs. Nothing like an ice cream samich to clear the head.

We cut up Pinola Rd. to get some gas in Jonas Ridge. We came down old 105. The state has been doing a bit of maintence so it wasn't as much fun as usual. The scenery is spectacular though.

Fire came through the gorge last fall. Things are starting to grow back slowly but surely.




Since it was dry, we thought we'd explore the power line a bit. It would be difficult to wrestle the beasts around in the mud. Wasn't too bad today.

SLOW DOWN in blind turns...(unless you are on the right side of the road)!


Seems like after i about went over a cliff edge while riding up there one day, K-banjo lead on, while i was flinging off the shakes, the whole way..

Not a heartbeat passed from the time he dissappeared around one of those 'blinders' til i saw a silver metallic 4wd Toyota come barreling around the curve... about 39+ mph(Toyo, not us)

I really, really didn't want to go around that turn to see what was left..

I was sure i was going to find him under it, or entombed in engine cylinder #3...
Between the drunks, the meth cookers, more drunks, and the usual Caldwell citizenry...

Haha! Yeah, SalsaBoy, I saw the whole thing...Damn fine piece of riding. I was sure you were gonna pull it off. One of those times that makes me wish I had a helmet-cam

Yeah, you caught me...#2 was the option we chose. Since it was getting later in the day though, I'm gonna blame it on SalsaBoy needing to get back home by a certain time! Otherwise I'd have done it.
