It was kind of odd how the North end of the BRP was open but almost the entire Southern end below Mt. Mitchell was closed for snow and ice!

Don't you just love it when a 0 mile weekend turns into a 270 mile weekend? CLICK HERE to see more.
Lucky went up Curtis Creek to 184 and then back to 226A. You guys think alike.

I did contemplate 226A but went down 80 instead.
(one sucks just as bad as the other, don't you think?)

I'm not sure how 184 fit into his route though.....
(isn't that Banner Elk/Beech Mtn?)

I think he meant the road off of the Parkway into Mt. Mitchell. He intended to go up there, but decided he could have more fun elsewhere.

Here is Piston Pants Jr. about to find out about 17 inch wheels and curvy roads, neither of which he has access to at home. (He does have an XR 80, however)

If I had to pick, 80 is the worse of the two going up, and 226A sucks going downhill.

No problem. That last ride was really spear-headed by Brendan (bpg) and I wasn't even sure I was gonna make it until the last minute. Thus the last minute post but this is definitely the thread to watch for rides in this part of town. Will keep you in mind for next time though. This is generally the time of year when I'm just starting to ride the most!

If anyone is interested in riding Sunday, up in the Caldwell/Burke/Wilkes/Watauga foothills/midpeaks...

There seems to be a few interested parties...

one is coming from Winston, the other starting in s.e. Hickory, near i40.

This is the last week for leaf peeping, peak is here NOW
...and the weekend will surely be less spectacular.

After that, you can needle peep all the evergreens that are left.

There are TWO threads currently in the S.E. region.

one is Wilson Creek/105 ride, the other is coming into BRP from Winston Salem...
or something like that...

C'mon HARDCORE riders, gear up, toughen up, and ride up.

PM me for exact details.....which actually are flying in PMs behind the scene....

Ladys?
wanna make the men look bad? show up, it's gonna be fun!
