"This DT400 is the dual sport equivalent to a YZ400..."
Yeah right. A similar displacement 2-stroke engine does not a motocrosser make. I'm guess that the DT makes about half the horsepower of a YZ. What a dork. A weenie too, if the MIGHTY DT400 is too fast for him. I admit that I've never ridden one, but I understand that they're more akin to a tractor than a race bike. That's not a slam, either. I like tractor-like motorcycles.

That is really nice. I've been thinking that the Titan might just be the two stroke to add to my harem (RDs a little too small, Kawi triples are now too much $$$...). Nice example.
So - please, tell us what it's like to own and ride. They would seem to be a bit heavy. Does it handle - at all? We need your ride report... ![]()

The tires are terrible, cobbled with too low tire pressure when I rode it and worn bushes in the forks, it makes for slow handling compared to my MZ. But it is not fair to judge it like that :) Edit: I'm looking forward to trying out my RD. LasseNC screwed with this post 11-11-2012 at 09:42 AM |

It reminded me of my BMW R75/5, (sold many years ago); slow handling for sure. The very long swing arm has a lot to do with that. I wouldn't call it at all flickable and it does not compare to an RD350/400. BUT- it all depends on what you want. The Titan feels very planted, more touring than sporty. And the handling matches the power. Very sedate for a two stroke, no kick in the pants power band to sneak up on you. I did some full days on mine and enjoyed the bike. I have Dunlops and Progressive rear shock/spring units. I replaced the fork springs with some Progressives but guessed a little on the high side resulting in a harsher ride than I'd like. (they don't have a listing for this bike) If you want a trouble free two stroke that you can reliably ride all day, you can't go wrong with a Titan. Seems good ones are rarer than the RD's as well. Just get used to kicking with your left leg... Relic ![]() I think I posted a pic of my purchase in this thread back on page 18.

eh what the hell... it's a 2 stroke:
![]() 1977 Yamaha IT250 2004 YZ250f forks, lowered 4", revalved 19" front w/Mefo trials tire 18" rear w/ Pirelli M43 trials tire Yamaha MX tank One-off fiberglass seat cowl... not sure if its staying or not It's got a fresh motor with a mildly ported '78 IT top end. Also have a '77 YZ top end & pipe but it's too peaky. I've a bunch of other bikes/projects so this kinda gets tucked away at the back of the garage for months on end until i feel like working on it again. It was mostly built to ride on the street... but i've been getting the bug to do hound/hare... have a 21" front with a Pirelli XCMS, fenders & comfy stock seat just in case.
