It is! Next class is August 8~10. I only have 3 students signed up so far.

Call Hood River Community Education (541)386-2055 if you are interested

Got the green light from my better half. Has to be August as I'm teaching BBQ classes on the September dates.

Toll Bridge and Tucker Parks, OK so which of these parks is quieter and has better showers?

The mothership said my Tourist should be ready to pickup this Friday

they are both nice. Tucker is closer, Toll Bridge probably quieter

I'd love to but I can't make that.

... 'cause I'm going to Alaska.

I am considering taking your course instead of the one in Moses Lake, WA, but I am lazy and don't want to take the state riding test.

Perfectly understandable- I am sorry I can not provide that for you. Evergreen has a good program, in fact my classes use their program and I trained through ESC.

Tony the Tiger took the class at Moses Lake(probably with the same instructors you will have) and then he took my class. I bet he'd give you a comparison if you ask

Shameless plug for Adventure Sidecar classes follows:
I took the ESC course in Moses Lake May 2007. My opinion of one of the instructors would probably get this thread booted to JoMomma (Hi Rolf!)

I took the Adventure Sidecar class in June 2008 just to see if I'd picked up any bad habits, and because I wanted to blast around on Vern's KLR rigs in the dirt .

The good: ESC is the only 'official' way to get your certification without taking the WA State test. ESC offers a subsidized course which costs only $100 per seat. You will get a feel for handling sidecars on pavement, which is where most folks intend to go (I mean, you could always just do it in the dirt with an ORV tag, right?).

The bad: ESC's subsidized courses usually have a long waiting list. There are also un-subsidized courses (at $250 per seat).

The ugly: PM me - I'll tell ya' the (as Paul Harvey would say) rest of the story.

Edited version: it was worth the same $$ to go to Hood River and take the course. I learned some new stuff (which was taught at Moses Lake, but not practiced) and if nuthin' else, broadened my experience. YMMV, of course.

I am planning on picking up a new 2WD Patrol in about 12 months, so dirt riding will be part of its life.

I may be convinced yet to take training through Red's class in OR and just take the state test when I get my hack.

Signed up this morning making the total only 4 students according to the college. I'm doing this to learn and be safe.

I think the whole endorsement process is a joke. You can take approved classes or the test on a bike that has no resemblance to what you will ride. The 2 wheel endorsement in WA can be done on a 125 automatic scooter. The 3 wheel can be done on an automatic Can-Am. You are legal but need zero clutch, shifting and sidecar experience/skill to get an endorsment. Sorry for the rant

Thanks for signing up, Konrad. It should be a fun class. I wish we could get just a couple more students-it would make it worth while for Monica to come down from Seattle and second for me, which is always fun. Either way, I am looking forward to it!

Even though I have the tools and ten years as an aircraft mechanic I was just too busy to go through the ten year old Tourist I just bought. Good news is the mothership is done doing it for me

So I'm going to ride down to the class
