This entire thread has left me super jealous.
Please don't hack the new PD. There are plenty of G/S left that are more deserving of not staying original (like my new one) This thread has done nothing to slow my obsession for an HPN

Thanks for the well-wishes, gentlemen. Am really looking forward to this trip.

Peter, the bike's current owner, is the kind of guy you want to buy a bike from. He's offered the loan of a spare rotor and bean can until I get the bike home. He's done a lot more than that, too. I can't thank him enough. Kudos to Peter.

Happy trails!

It doesn't sound like the route has you coming down to Bellingham, Seattle, etc., but if it does, I'm sure there are a few folks (me included) who'd love to buy you and yours a refreshing soda (or maybe a hot chocolate considering the weather).

Let us know.

Thanks, Fishkens, but travelling without a valid passport which precludes sojourns south of the border. Would love to see the Washington coast sometime in the future.

Loving BC and Vancouver!

That looks like fun. I need to do a fly and ride soon. I've reached the conclusion that there just aren't any airheads available anywhere in Mexico at reasonable prices. For some reason there seem to be a bunch of cheapies in Arizona and New Mexico though.

When your bike is a tool and not a fashion accessory (i.e. it gets meaningful mileage put on it) it needs to be maintained.

Be careful saying that. Karma has a way of catching up.

Nice bike, Lornce!! Great shot of the family, too. Nothing like loved ones when we get done with a long journey.
