Thanks Hayduke
Thanks for the info on the footpegs and risers...and for starting this thread.
For any of you who have had your kickstand bracket rip off, did you just weld it back in place, covereing the frame hole. Or did you do something to strengthen the weak spot while welding back to the frame? btw: I'm looking for a welder. Thanks E

![]() XR400 in Northeastern Mexico. Performed flawlessly, blasting away at 80mph on open hwy and sliding around canyon roads with nothing but rocks and cactus to slow a 50 ft fall.

Saddle Bags
What are the saddle bags you have on the XR400 in the photos? They look like good simple bags, and I would like a set. Is there a hard rack behind them? Any info would be much appreciated!!
Thanks for the great photos. It inspires me to get off ADV site and go out for a ride!! Cheers! Steve |

LaOutbackTrail....did you do a ride report? How many miles did you go, and what is your takeaway impression of the humble 400 as a quasi ADV bike?

I did the XR650L on a very similar trip earlier this year. I set up the XR400 pretty similarly to do this trip, with the intention to have more fun offroad. I installed the big tank to increase my range, wider, taller bars, headlight, and even my windshield and airhawk seat cushion for more hwy comfort. To be quite honest, besides not having the 650's push button start, the XR400 did great as an adventure bike. With the 16t front sprocket, it cruised at 65mph on the hwy for about 4 hrs, 180 miles. I got about 40 mpg avg with my heavy right hand and the altitude, increasing the mileage when i used premium gas up to 45. It was a big group event, and I only covered part of one of the groups I lead. I'm terraxpeditions. http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43729
