those new 250/400 you posted look nice keep us posted!
interesting info on your tours, I have been looking into the silk road tours in kyrgistan and khazkstan, your just over the range, I'll send a email on your site re more info.
thanks, Mike
Thanks Chile, the bike is still not finished, I'm waiting for the flat mount of my Garmin 276C. So the stepups is not danger after I put on my gps. Since the bike is for our desert racing in this May, so I used IMS tanks but not Acerbis, the italian is too huge for racing.
Hope to see you in China, I will keep up posting.

How bright is it?

I really don't know what its worth. New its probably $120?? How bright is it compared to stock?

I stopped by his house yesterday after he got it. He's very excited about it. I rode it around the block. I think we are trading tanks. Mine is stock. He doesn't like the bigger one.

Wish I could buy the HID from you, but I'm broke after a trip to Moab. Blakebird gave me a new headlight though.

Thanks Blake!

A couple of other new additions-

Bar-mounted mirror. Yay! A mirror you can actually see out of! (thanks Ganshert!)-

Spark arrester/quiet discs. Found them on ebay for this discontinued pipe. Much quieter and U.S.F.S. approved.

440 Kit with Stock Carb

Hi all!

I'm in the process of re-assembling my '00 XR400 to install the 440 kit. The cylinder has been bored and the new sleeve pressed in.

Does anybody out there have a 440 kit installed and still using the stock carb? I'm trying to get an idea of where I should start with jetting... I'm at about 3700 ft, Uni air filter, stock pipe with HRC baffle and turned down tip, ground header weld with header wrap. With the 400 I had 55/155 jets.

I've done some reading and it seems most people switch to a pumper, but I want to try the stocker out first...

Any thoughts?

I'm no stranger to jetting the stock carb, but I'll tell you, I could not get the stock carb to run well with my 440. It's like the pilot circuit can't keep up with the increased displacement. Same with the mid and main systems, tho not quite as bad. I would start with 1 size larger pilot and main jets. The jetting didn't need as big a jump as Thumper Racing(they built mine) said it would. I tried everything to get the stock carb to run well with the 440 but it just wasn't up to it. I put the Mikuni TM36-50 pumper from XRs Only on it and have not looked back. The bike runs like a scalded a** ape.

Thanks for the input guys!

So... it sounds like the bottle neck is the actual carb and not related as much to the jetting. Unfortunately I don't have the funds to buy a pumper carb at the moment

I guess I'm going to have to struggle with the stocker for now and save my empty beer cans to buy a new pumper in the future.
