WTB stock headlight plastics / assembly

Hello fellow XR owners... I'm looking for a stock headlight assembly, doesn't really matter what color. Maybe someone who as upgraded to a baja designs kit or otherwise would have a stock piece laying around? If so, please shoot me a PM.
thanks
Marc

The only reason I am even thinking about doing this is Im going to split the cases anyway for a con rod, crank and bearing redo.

On a side note. I just talked with the revloc guy about a week ago, and he said that he is almost done with the dyna ring for the xr4. $379 auto clutch, I would consider one at that price.
I looked into this, it did not seem to be doable. I wanted to make either a high end 5th or a super lower 1st second. Let me know what you are able to work.

I am looking at putting tool tubes on the outsides edges of my forks up by the turn signals. Has anyone mounted tool tubes up this high and on the forks before?

Ok gurus
I am thinking about a shorter kick lever. Does anyone know which ones might fit with little effort?
I don't need the 4ft monkey lever and I want to shorten the throw to make my effort count more.

Hey Lonestar,

I located my tool tube on the front of my skid plate. I used 3" pvc tube and some drain plugs. Works great, its water proof, cheap, and easy to take off. I also put one on my KLR.

I had not even thought of that. That is where that bad boy is going to go. Between that and a Mojavi bag that I am picking up Saturday, I will be dialed in.

That doesn't make sense to me. Given the same amount of engine rotation, leg effort would increase. Then if the goal is to spin the engine faster, more revs per kick, leg effort increases even more.

It's almost no effort to kick and the stock lever is huge. I'd rather have a shorter one that is a smaller motion.

Mainly this would be nice on hills when your trying to stay balanced and get a full kick. Short and to the point.

Just joined the forum and XR400R thread

I've been getting insight/advice from ThumperTalk and AdvRider since I bought my XR400R a few years back and figured it was time I get in on the fun. Over the past 3 day I've read to page 50 (750 posts) in this thread but it will take some time to get all the way caught up to page 206 (3084 posts).

I have a 1997 that is California street legal/registered. The road capability is great merely to get to/between all the offroad stuff that I love to do around here. The more I read about the XR400R from people like yourselves, the more I am stoked that I bought this exact bike. Plus it is fun to learn the mechanical skills.

Below is a list of all the non-stock equipment added to date by the prior/first owner and me. Feel free to ask me about any or if you want to ride in Tahoe. Once I read the remaining 2000+ posts I'm sure I'll have some questions for you guys too.

Acerbis white front disc protector
Acerbis white front fork lower guard
Acerbis rear brake light and license plate holder
Acerbis Rally Pro handguards - red
Baja Designs dual sports kit
Highline Recreation Tugger rear lift strap Style 1
NGK Resistor Sparkplug DPR8Z
Mikuni 36mm accelerator pumper carburetor
MSRacing skid plate (I think)
Primary Drive 15 tooth front sprocket
Primary Drive 45 tooth rear sprocket
Primary Drive 520 X-ring 108 link chain
Renthal handlebars
Renthal bar pad
Scott SXII Grips
SRC front fork mudskins
SRC front fork upper guard
SRC front fork brace
SRC front fender brace
SRC front sprocket/chain kiwi saver
Thumper Racing burly footpegs (I think)
Trail Tech Enduro Speedometer/Computer Kit (400-20)
Tusk Off Road Flush Mount LED Turn Signals - rear
UniFilter air filter (NU-4074ST)
XRs Only Combo rear disc billet brake mount with shark fin
XRs Only speedometer drive eliminator

Any here is an older pic of the bike (less the new speedo, rear blinker, carb & Tugger strap).

I was thinking about the "dumping cash into a 13 year old bike" comment. Well in CA we really have no choice unless you want a KTM, husky, husa, etc. because we cant plate bikes here. All of the factory plated dirt bikes are dogs or exotic and expensive. The more I look around the more I want a better xr. The only close option that I can buy used for 1 to 3k is the DRZ. To me its a coin toss between the two. I ended up with a plated Xr. Really happy with my choice thus far. Point is, investing in your XR can make sense depending on what you need and expect.

Fortunately, I love my "HonDeere" and it was super clean, apparently low hours and already street legal when I found it for sale. I have always been crazy about the tractor like pulling power of the XR's and this 400 has been no different.... I guess that's how I'm justifying this venture.

Agree Doc. Is that the transparent Clarke tank you have on there (or the IMS)?

I'm thinking about maybe getting oneof those (not the big Acerbics or DR tank) this spring plus a GaintLoop Coyote saddle bag then hitting the fire roads in the Sierra Nevada range or out into the Nevada desert for some camping/advetnure trips. Contact me if anyone else interested in coming along.

Hi,
This is my '97 XR4 when I first got her.

Got her with two diff setups; motard and offroad.
She came big-bored to 450cc, with an oversized header from White Brothers and a GPR endcan.
Rode her offroad for close to 3 years til I switched her back to a motard when I bought a new offroad bike.
Here's how she looks now with a big Acerbis tank.

She's my 'everyday-rain-or-shine-bike'.

Looking to get a lil windscreen and maybe an E-starter in the near future.
