I bet you'll win the over 600cc 2wd category (if there is one).
The 2wd should help with the last pitch where you're spraying the roost out.

Not 950 related......yet.
But still good fun.Got a call from a good buddy to go test ride a bike. Sounded like fun and I need a day off. We headed up to Wisconsin Rapids to visit Country Sports. After a 3hr drive I met John, the owner, and after some much needed lunch we went looking for some fresh snow. So what did we drive 3 hrs to ride???? An AD Boivin Explorer Snow bike kit!!! ![]() This kit was mounted to a RMZ450 MX bike. A fun, lightweight bike, but I kept wanting MORE POWER! ![]() ![]() John was great to let us ride on his demo bike and his knowledge of the kit and how to adjust is showed. After a test ride to feel out the conditions, he made some small changes. Rob on the Left, Jeff helped gassed it up and off John goes. ![]() Rob having fun. ![]() ![]() ![]() This kit was great fun in powder and hard pack. It would be a blast to hit the trails w/ a group of Snow Bikes. I'd like to try this on a bike w/ MORE POWER. Maybe they need help to fit it on a 950. ![]() Thanks John for the opportunity to test this out. It was much appreciated. Thanks Jeff for the ride up and great to meet you Rob. See you guys soon. Happy Holidays.

That thing is wicked fun. John brought it to Himmelman's slip 'n slide ride last February. Jeff didn't want to get off it. I thought he might have his own by now. Robbie, of course, will ride a /2 anywhere he can go on the snow bike.
This is definitely the year for it. I hope John sells dozens.

I'm hoping Jeff bites the bullet and gets one for his 690 KTM.

Have tried a Husaberg 450 with the same snowkit, but in heavy spring snow i can say it felt underpowered.
Still it was alot of fun but its a bit to much money but if the prices go down or its starts beeing possible to buy second hand i'm tempted to buy a kit. Will we see a 950 with a powered track in the front also until next winter?? /Johan |

Hi Everyone,
I am hitting the road for a few months. I will be gone May 15-July 20th? 2011. I am heading to Alaska w/ 3 other 950 ADV riders. We are riding from Wisconsin to AK, then down the Continental Divide to Mexico, before heading home. We expect 15-20,000 miles over this time. I'll be heading out on this trip with my 06' 950 AWD, currently w/ 78,531 miles on the clock. I hope that helps ease some new riders looking for "USED" bikes this season. These bikes last with proper up keep, and maintenance. I find most bikes out there with any issues, just need a good owner willing to sort out any past band-aid fixes. You can follow along on our new BLOG. We will be reviewing the products we are using as well as updating this along our trip with info on where we are. I will be turning off my PM function here, so that all contact requests will go to my email during this time. I'm not MIA, just off on my own adventure. I will be back in time for the Central WI ADV Rally. Hope to see you there. ![]() thank you and safe travels, Craig

Well..... We're back from trip. We had a great time and learned a lot.
A little update on my bike as of this weekend. I have 95,000 miles on the bike now. On our return home the bike felt low on power. It would still start fine, didn't blow smoke or burn any more oil than normal (.75lts every 3,000 miles) At 75,000 miles I dynoed it at about 85HP at the rear wheel. Yesterday I dynoed it and found 42hp at the rear wheel. I thought it felt like a KLR.![]() Looks like it's time for a big bore kit. ![]() Anyways.... the engine will be pulled apart and I'll drop in the 04" engine I have on the bench w/ only 12,000 miles. This will keep me rolling. I'll report back what I find as I get it torn apart. Sure, I wish this would have lasted much longer before a rebuild, but I've run this bike hard and long. It's given me many great trips and smiles. I can't imagine any bike putting up or lasting as well as the KTM has. I look forward to learning a bit about the inside of this engine and what can be done to get more power out of it. Long live the LC8's!!!
