Good luck noobens and geode! I haven't tried the tranny swap myself so I can offer no advice there, the other guys seem to have it covered pretty well. As for the triple clamp, I say hell yeah go ahead and make one. That would be pretty sick.... I threw some paint at my bike today and then sat on it while it ran. That's about it....nest up is trying to restore the kneepads.

Likely need to find a source of the right sized scrap of 7075 now.

Scrap is the SHIT... so much of my bike is made from random pieces of metal that were lying around. Do it......

That amount alone will nearly double my investment in this bike!!!
Sounds like that 3 CB/CL175 plan isn't so crazy after all.

Even if your kneepads are torn and all beat to shit keep them. This is what black RTV and some spray paint can do. I am so glad I didn't toss these....

It looks quite a bit like what I had in mind to make to replace the broken one.

TIA
I can do so for you tomorrow in the light, no problem.

In lieu of spending money at the machine shop I'm just going to run the 4 speed. I feel so defeated! Also I'm in the market for shift forks as mine are bent to hell haha. Luckily the gears all look ok!

No sidecovers? I'd take a look at the exposed wiring there. You've got a big loop of wire hanging off the battery that's just begging to get yanked inadvertently.

Looks good with the paint, eh? This is a really sweet bike, man. I can't believe how much better the knee pads look.

Thanks man, the paint made an unbelievable difference. I was kind of amazed at the kneepads too, just matte paint and RTV. THe one loop of wire you see is the battery ground which isn't connected, it gets tucked up and away when it is. The other one is the brake switch. Quite franky I didn't notice it for some reason so thanks for pointing it out. Normally all my wiring is run clean, don't know how I missed that. Black zip ties to the rescue on that one.....

You know, you just gotta smile when the first thing the mechanic says when he safetys your bike is "That looks so cool", and the second thing he says is "Can I sit on it?". Hot damn.....
