Any K bike riders out there? - Page 10

I was accused of being a redneck at work today. Because I remember the day I bought my K1200GT but can't remember my wedding anniversary.

I objected. I don't have loud pipes. Besides, I'm just a man. And my BMer does what I want without complaint.

This is my first bmw. Its great on the road, but I find it a little top heavy. a friend of mine has a k11lt and his engine noise (not muffler) is a lot quieter than mine. Is that normal? The bike sat for five years and all I hade to do was change oil and check the fluids put in a new fuel pump and filters, reset the ABS and she ran as smooth as ever . I do need some new tires and a new rear rotor and pads ,but everything is solid. Great bike for the money, you can't go wrong with an older K.

P.S. And yes It needed a new battery too. The engine looks like it belongs in and Indy light car IMHO.

The K75 has a very distinctive sound, a little higher pitched than the K11. If it sat for 5 years you may want to have a look-see at the splines and clutch plate. My K11 sat for 7 years before I bought it, and there was some rust issue with the clutch.

Also realize that the 75 is a fully naked engine and the LT has some plastic encasing it which will damped the noise.

She runsvery good, but my shifting wasn't very good until I adjusted the clutch and the throttle cables. Now thats a lot smoother too.

Thanks...I definitely love the looks of these bikes. I find myself walking the long way into the building to oogle it in the parking lot.
