My K1200R Sport has the shortest gearing of the lot, and it pulls so hard it's like getting handjob from a female bodybuilder! I only took it to redline in top gear one time... A guy in one of the new Corvette Z06's was toying with me on a long 2 lane stretch of otherwise deserted highway, so I unleashed the fury. I literally left him for dead up until 120 or so, and then he started to gain on me. He only caught me when I hit the rev limiter in 6th. GPS had me pegged at 157mph actual. If not for the limiter, and lack of an extra gear (which the engine could have easily pulled) I doubt he would have caught me! When we slowed to a reasonable speed, he rolled down his window, and I could tell by the look on his face that he was in disbelief. He couldn't believe any bike, much less a stock BMW could run away from a 500hp car. He asked all of the usual questions, then went on his way. I've ridden full on sport bikes that were "faster", but I can't recall any that pulled with as much authority as the K12R.

Bought from a forum member. 1985 K100RS .... 28,000 miles. Super clean, 2 previous owners did a great job of maintaining this moto.

A few mods, Wilbers rear shock, Luftmeister pipe,Corbin seat, K75C bars, heated grips, run-n-lites in back, and some tiny fog lights up front. Aeroflow windscreen which, obviously, is not installled for the photo.

I have put 500 or so commuter miles on it ... All I can say is smooth. Love this bike .... looking forward to having it for a long time.

I got the white aluminum metallic color, with the so-staggeringly-ugly-they're almost-beautiful yellow rims. Now I'll have a Caspian Blue Triumph steamer, and the new silver/yellow Beemer.

I'm a sucker for wacky-looking bikes, I guess.

The K12S will be bone stock, but I'll post pics this weekend anyway.

if all falls into place I'll be doing the exact same thing - same color too. I think the white aluminum is stunning, but agree that with the blue wheels from the tri-color version Rydor's post #198 it might be a little more stunning. Strangely enough I would be book-ending the K1200 series. I bought one of the first K1200RS's in 1997, and perhaps one of the last K1200S's in 2008. The K1200RS was traded with 88,000 miles on the clock for a GSXR 1000, which currently has 66,000 miles.

I agree - the blue rims on the tri-color are very cool. After I tire of the yellow, I really think the rims on the white aluminum bike would look amazing powder-coated black.

Not mine yet - drat.

As far as the K is concerned - I am going to keep it as stock as possible. No pipes, no permanent bags. Perhaps a tinted screen. I've wasted too much money on aftermarket stuff - stock works better - 99% of the time.
