It is a clean bike though
Not that I've seen - nor scratched bags - but that's just road character. OTG said it better than I could. It's the sheer functionality of the thing that makes it beautiful, IMO. It's rare to see one of those around my neck of the woods, but when I do, right or wrong, it always makes me think the rider is a serious motorcyclist.

Someday I'd like a streetmissile to complement my beloved Scnellpanzer... and I likes me some Bricks.

Hope they bring the K1300R to these shores... but if not, I'll be checking out the S.

Be sure.

Here's my sweetie......a keeper.

K75 RTA - mfg. 2/92 - Stock, except for the 50L givi topcase,
and 40L Hepco/Becker sidecases.

Here she is with her twin sister - we had the intent of having
a pair of 'his and her' '92 blue K75RTA's for my wife and I to ride, but
even with lowering mods, one was still too tall, so it got sold
to a friend across town. We're eyeing a low seat/frame F650GS
twin now - mebbe if the economy straightens out....

Sweet, sweet bike. Smooth and stable. The motor gets a bit
busy (like most triples) above about 6K, but that translates
to 80 or so in top gear, so not really an issue. At nearly seventeen
years old, no mechanical issues save for a weepy seal or two,
just routine maintenance, and keeping the electrics inspected
to make sure everthing's clean, dry, and tight.

Hey Shogs and OTG, been trollin' here looking for a dual sport, saw this thread and felt the need to post.

Take care all you K11OG'ers (and if you see a cheap KLR, DR, or XR for under 2k in your neck of the woods, send me a link!)

Ok - it's been a few weeks - we need an update. Thoughts that you might want to share. BTW - it seems I may be closing in on one just like yours. might be a Merry Christmas after all. Trading 4 wheels for 2.

Also - that trailer looks interesting - can you share any information ? (manufacturer perhaps)

I wish I could say I have 4000 miles on this thing already, but it's frikkin COLD here lately..... I've managed to put about 250 miles on between snowfalls....
So far I absolutely love the bike. The motor sounds fantastic for an I-4, even with the stock exhaust. Power is just staggering. For normal riding, 4 of the gears are superfluous; it just pulls from anywhere. The handling at parking-lot speeds seems strange at first - it's almost as if your front tire is flat. Get used to it, though, and turning radius is very tight for a bike of this length, and handling is fantastic. The bike is freight-train stable in turns (and in crosswinds). I couldn't be happier with it so far, but the lack of riding weather is killing me. The upcoming K13S and the economic downturn have combined for some amazing deals on them. I wouldn't be surprised to see the K13 in the $17-$20K range. They are beautiful, with a few changes, but largely the same bike. These K12's can be bought new around $11k before tax. I can't imagine a bike made that suits my needs/wants more perfectly. It would have been worth it to me at $16k. At $11k, it's not even a decision....if you're in the market, do it, and don't look back. You'll love it.

As for the trailer, I'm lucky enough to have a friend who owns an equipment rental business, and he has a couple of those. He let me "rent" it for the weekend for a couple of beers. I don't know the brand, but I can sure find out if you like. It pulled great - absolutely stable on the interstate, simply designed, and smaller than it looks in the pics.

Since I haven't been riding, I've been adding a few things....

ZTechnik dark windshield. I really like this shield - super dark, and thicker than the stock shield. I bought it because it really shields the instruments in the sunlight.

R&G Frame sliders (semi-ugly, but they seem hell-for-stout, and @ $600 per side panel at the stealer in the event they're damaged, I'll get used to them). You have to drill the panels to install, so the pucker factor gets a bit high...
Here's a crappy garage pic of the left-side slider. Also have them on the front axle, clutch cover and final drive...

Techmount for my GPS (I used the cradle out of the Garmin marine mount to hold my 276c...same setup on my Tiger so I can switch back and forth.)

? Lemme see, couple of mods. Maybe 950SE forks and shock. Rims & tires. Move the pipe. Couple sheets of aluminum for bash plates. Should be doable.
