Got the part today, and it seems to work

The only problem is that the indicator reads 3 in first gear

Thanks for the advice, the string definitely helped.

Sounds as though the gear position switch is about to give up the ghost. They can be stripped and cleaned but it's means the swingarm needs to be off and the switch pulled apart.

Wednesdays suck. There's hardly any traffic and I have to spend the rest of the day breaking in my new Russell Day Long on Hwy 1.

Man, that just triggered a massive amount of envy Duck! Still, I hope you have an awesome ride.

Let me know what you think of the new saddle for long distance. I ride the stock Corbin on my K75 and after a couple hours, it cuts into the bottom of my legs and is a bother.

Seems like BMW made a zillion 93 KLT`s & a few later on, then went right to the 1200`s. Or is it that the 93`s were the best year & the rest sit in garages (like my 94 until tomorrow)

Oh my. My 93 LT is running better than ever. I gave it a full Level II service about a year and a half ago. The last thing I did was replace the coolant and wouldn't you know it some oil floated to the top so I knew I had to do the water/oil pump seals which really pissed me off. Since I have a bunch of other Ks I put it on the back burner until a few weeks ago because I hadn't ridden it for so long.

I'll be honest. I think it's a really ugly bike. The retro-upgraded K100RT barn door fairing is hideous IMO. Not to mention the androgenous/ghey Pine Green paint scheme. (which I think has saved me a ticket or two because nobody, even a LEO, can imagine it being fun to ride an ugly turd like that)

It seems BMW built and sold a lot of those in the US in 93. That said, I don't have to look at while riding it and, with PR2s and an Ohlins, it's an absolute hoot to ride. The main reason I bought was that my crashed and parted K75RT needed to be replaced so I'd have something to ride - and I found this one with <14k on the clock.

I cringe every time I look at it but it gives me wood when I ride it.

I've put lots of miles on various Corbins, Rick Mayers and RDLs. The RDL is by far the most comfortable. I think the old RDL I used before this one was a tad more comfortable but I only have about a thousand miles on this one so it may need a little more breaking in.

Of course all of this depends upon your personal butt ergos but the general consensus is that the RDL is the best for LD riding.

Too true.

Duck is a real unsung hero.

Surely a monument of some sort is in order...?

I spent Thursday out riding with this 149k 91 K100RS4V. Former R100 owner and wife who turned to the darKside many moons ago when he bought this bike with only 7k on it.
