That bike deserves a speeding ticket just sitting on its center stand

Anybody have experience with these risers? Are they simple enough to put on?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-Handlebar-...item27bbd22775

My K100 is listed on CL, but I'm going to keep riding it until it sells, and would like to sit more upright. I'm just uncomfortable leaning so far forward. I'd rather change the bars but I've hear that's a pretty big hassle...

I've have something like that on my R1150 and it works quite well.

You may have trouble with whatever crash-pad you have fitted. There isn't a lot of clearance between the top of the standard clamps and the underside of the crash-pad, especially those with optional equipment switches mounted.

The crash-pad mounts on the two screws facing to the rear (just below the handlebar clamps):

You may need to lengthen the crash-pad mounting brackets.

Rotopax Mod

I'm gearing up the new K for touring season and decided to add an extra gas option. My buddy and I tour in the west with some fairly desolate stretches where a decision to skip a gas station can turn out to be a mistake (ask me how I know). Turns out I had a 1 gallon Rotopax setup laying on the shelf. I decided to mate it up to the BMW removable rack that came with the bike. In tour trim the Rotopax will be sandwiched under a couple Wolfman Expedition bags. I think it will ride nicely there.

What year is that K bike? If it has the infamous 266 ECU you could extend the range by quite a few miles switching the Eprom to the updated 296. Not sure yet if switching the 477 ECU to the 296 will improve milleage. Someone I know is testing that.

$60.00 well spent for me, now I can go to the end of "that" road in the west and come back without carrying extra gas.

Really long thread on I-BMW on that with all the info. Go there and PM K-K.

The short versions:

Riding the west....low fuel level light comes on much later. Could come on even later I am sure....

Looks like the later bikes came with 477....266 and 296. Not sure yet if you can improve the milleage on the 477, waiting for some road tests from my friend, he is riding the east and weather is crap out there for now.

I should correct my above posts....sorry rough day for some in the BMW world yesterday. That "some" ain't me to some extent but phew glad I don't have to pay for them F-ups.

The bad one is 166. Anyone wants to hear about the bulletin for 2003-4 K1200RS/GTs follow some of the links above.

Interesting. I have lots of reading to do. My K is an '02.

I think you are fine on an 02 as it should have the 477 ECU. Bulletin applies to the 03-04 to some date in April 04 when BMW "updated" at the factory.

But my buddy recently changed his 477 to 296, don't know yet what improvements if any he will find.
