A man would never take the time it took to clean that thing.

That's pretty sweet.

A friend of mine is looking to buy a semi-conversion van and I came across this on Ebay. It is a bit too big for her uses, but impressive and cheap for the money http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPRINTER-CAMPER-INTERIOR-AND-TRAILER-No-vehicle_W0QQitemZ330333050582QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRV s_Campers?hash=item4ce96256d6&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A1171|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1308

Something to be aware of with used Sprinters.....

DHL used a ton of them. When they left the market, they had/have lots of them to get rid of. I am starting to see them on used truck lots. They are easy to spot.... kind of hideous yellow/orange. I would bet that former DHL vans have been ridden hard and but away wet and I would also bet that they were maintained at longer than normal intervals.

Pretty sure that you have to contact the individual offices that have them. In my area, they use Dodge 1/2 ton pick ups and turn them over every year.

I was thinking about a new 08 but it seems dealers can't give them away.
Are problems more common/less mpg in the 6 cylinder diesel?

By "dealers" I assume you mean Dodge. The Sprinter is a Daimler product (Mercedes) and Daimler has completely divorced itself from Dodge. Therefore, as of 1/1/10 Dodge no longer carries Sprinters. They're just selling off existing inventory.

Supposedly Mercedes dealerships will be carrying the Sprinters. Dodge will continue service, but no one knows for how long.

I'm not sure if Freightliner will continue to be a dealer. My guess is yes.

As far as the '08 models, no major known problems.

I tink that FIAT should seriously think in taking its IVECO van line to U.S.
In europe they have a good reputation for reliability and performance (they are also re-branded as Citroen or Peugeot)
The Daily 4x4 has impressive offroad performances, much nearer an Unimog than a Sprinter 4X4

to say say that the IVECO is rebranded as Peugeot/Citroen is not completly correct; FIAT and PSA (Peugeot/Citroen) work closely together in commercial vehicles and Vans and use identical platforms for some modells.
All of them have a good reputation.

Friend of mine is driving an Ambulance (Volunteer) in Austria; he absolutely hated the Sprinter, said it was more like a lorry than a ED-Vehicle and there were electrical issues and weak brakes.
Now he drives a VW - LT and is happy with it

That's funny because the LT and Sprinter are based on the same chassis joint developed by DC and VW. The only differences are the front grille, some trim and the engine/transmission choices.

That's absolutely correct. Sprinter and VW LT / Crafter share the same platform.
