Yea - the tank is the only thing that he never got around to upgrading. I'm gonna put a black Clarke 3.2gal. tank on it.

Weisco piston set 426cc 11/1 Compression.
X-Rod kit pressed onto a 2005 TRX400EX crank work by Mr. Crankshaft.
Ported and Polished head.
Kibblewhite valves and springs, 3 angle valve cut.
Stage 2 Hot Cam.
36mm Signature Series Edelbrock Pumper Carb.
2001 XR4 Center Cases Polished.
2001 XR4 Upgrade Transmission.
2001 XR4 Upgrade Kickstarter Assembly.
2005 TRX400EX 160 Watt Stator.
2005 TRX400EX Starter Assembly Polished.

FMF Power Bomb Header SS.
FMF Stage IV Power Core Silencer SS.

It has electric start taken from a TRX400 quad and a hidden master kill switch so no one can kick it and go.

You deffenitly won't see anybody else on a XR like that!!I could imagine your gona piss off some DRZSM's on the road.

CBR600f1 1st gen or Hurricane. You need the early wheels due to the width of the wheel (140) to fit the swing arm. I think the axle dia is the same too. Not easy to locate front and rear at the same time....trust me....I searched.

Nice ride, Eaglefeather. I was just up in your area last week. I picked up a little dirtbike for my wife in Broomfield. Then I went out to Bennett to get this for $100:



I thought I could use the wheels for a future sumo project. My ride has a few things in common with yours:



This bike was an NX650, Honda based it of the XL600R. It now has XR650L front forks. The rear wheel is from another Hurricane parts bike I had. I drilled out the wheel. It took forever and left craploads of aluminium shavings everywherem but I like the look. The CBR front wheel would not fit the XR650L forks without a lot of modification.

What size chain did you go with? I went with a 520 chain and got a 520 rear sprocket conversion from Vortex. I'd like to find a steel 520 sprocket that fits the wheel, but I don't think anyone makes one.

I also used the CBR rear brakes on this bike. The NX had a rear drum and this made for an easy conversion.

Damn - I love that tank on your bike with the molded sides. Thats what I need for the XR.

You know - I can't take the sportbike riding position anymore - hands go numb after 30min. - and yea - I was making some crazy, stupid runs on the sportbike.....bordering on extreme. Big difference between 150hp on the sportbike and 40 or 50hp on this XR. Plus - with this....I can always just run off the pavement into the dirt and keep on going - try that on a sportbike - lol. The sportbike was always a handfull at low speeds, running around town and just not very comfortable for that. This will be much better for that.....and it won't waste my knobbies on my other XR.

(is any of this rationalization working - lol)

Can't wait to get this thing out on the tarmac at IMI too!

Yeah, hate that overloaded, overpowered feeling when one wants to just putz around. That's why I keep this thing around!
