Left over name from Europe whic was a European version of the American sport calld SuperBikers, supposedly a French translation.....superbikers was a race series put together by some promoters where a bunch of racers from road racing, dirt track, and MX could get together and race a MX bike with different tyres and wheels on a track that was half MX track and half road race course in the 80s.

Hey bulldog if you check out the supermotojunkie.com site, there is a guy who has an XT225 he likes to play around on. I'm pretty sure hes got 17 inch wheels on it.

Here's a couple older pics of mine I posted on 4strokes.com. I ditched the XR Valdez gas tank after the first long SM ride and went back to the metal stocker tank. It's clean but shows the scuffs and scratches of offroad use too The ding on the exhaust is a reminder not to grab too much front brake while in 3rd sliding around an uphill sharp right hand turn..... broke my ankle on that one and had to ride 112 miles home with a broken ankle and handlebars out of whack.....I've got a permanant bend in the headlight shroud from the impact of that one.

Here's one with the stock tank

One of these days I'll get another bike strictly for dirt/dualie rides (a KTM 625 or a Husky TE610). I plan on keeping the XR and doing a complete teardown for some extreme engine, performance and asthetic mods but it will be a dedicated SM bike when I'm done. Aside from hopping the engine up I want to go with inverted CRF forks, and get the frame powdercoated black.

IIRC they used UJMs not MX bikes. I remember those big Kawasaki 4s catching air on the dirt/pavement transitions.

My previous 01' DRZ400, sold before leaving CA about 18mos ago. Never should have sold it, but my 950SM helps ease the pain. A little list of the gear-
Floating petal front disk, wave rear
Ohlins shock
Applied Racing triple clamp w/USD forks
Gold Talon hubs & black Excels
Yoshi pipe
a nice list of humbled sportbikes in the Bay area(Mines Rd, Hamilton)

I did MT Palomar for the 1st time yesterday with the SM setup (I usually do the dirt ride on the other side to get to the top).

I've got a whole new appreciation for the SM set up A friend turned me on to Rick Clemson's website....I need to meet this guy, he has taken Thousands of pics of bikes doing the super twisties up and down the Mountain like this one.....Thought I'd share with the SM enthusists 'round here.

He also takes pictures at the local SM track...

Here is a link to his website: http://rickclemson.com/Events.asp?Ev...ry=Motorcycles

If you ever get the chance to ride SM in San Diego MT. Palomar is a load of fun!!!

I would not recomend it to those who ride like squids, it claims allot of riders and bikes.
