I've always liked the Metzler ME880 myself. Though, with a car tire on the back (non a trike) it does take a good bit of counter steer to keep it in a turn... she wants to go straight all the time...

The Avons make the counter steer a little easier with a car tire. They make it turn in REAL quick with Avons front AND back.

But, alas... I'm a fan of heavy handlebars when I'm in cruise mode... so CT on the back and ME880 on the front. Fits me just fine.

Now, the V-Stom tires are a different story...

Here's my Valkyrie:

2000 tourer. Love it as an all-around bike.

Boy and I went on a 3000mi loop around middle America last fall with the Valk and my old WIng:

One of many changing looks of my 1998 Valk back in 2000. Here with extended exhuast pipes, Interstate tank and leather bags. I loved that bike! Wish I still had it!

Well I have been making these for the VRCC for a a year or two now...
So with a few Valk riders here ..
Here's my calendar for March....

With all the cold and snow we have been having..
I think this photo is a good choice
It's a promise of warmer times to come....

I would like to thank my good friend ValkHound (Dana)...
For sending me this photo of his Super Valk at the Eldorado Reservoir in KS ...

Anyone use Nelson Rigg CL-850 saddlebags on their Valk? I have a 97 standard that I want to put bags on . Don't really want leather. I have a TourMaster T bag on it now, so soft bags would work for me. What type of bracket do yall use? Out the door to work I go, so I'll check in later.

I have one question for all of you. What brand of tires are you running and do you like them. I have 2 long trips planned this year. I will be needing new tires between runs. I currently have Avon Cobra which I hate. Front one is the loudest tire I've ever run. The back one had to be replaced due to being defective. I am going to try a different tire. Any suggestions?
Thanks Eddie.
metzler me880's. the wear they have shown so far has been excellent and their traction in the rain is outstanding. most tires handle well in the dry it is the rain where a tie earns it's dinner.

I've used generic throwover softbags similar to the CL-850's on my Valk and they were fine. Cobra makes a set of brackets for the Valk to keep the bags off the exhaust and away from the wheels. The bike originally had LeatherLyke bags on it which looked good but cracked around the mounting holes so I'm reluctant to recommend them if you are ever tempted to get hardbags.

Do you think the other 98 BigChris's own Valks?

The only suggestion I can make is a negative one and that is to stay away from Bridgestone. The bike had Bridgestones on it when I bought it and they were extremely noisy. When I put a new set of of Avons on I honestly could not believe how much quieter the bike was. The Avons only got noisy after several thousand miles when the front developed a flat strip and they would rumble whenever I leaned the bike into a curve. I run 40 and 42 psi front and rear which has helped to prevent cupping and tread wear which can cause noise.
