There is a black tourer for sale near me. I shall not go and look at it though.

Cobras
I went from Venom's to Cobra and I think the Cobra are much better. My Venoms needed a lot of warm up before they would stick, the Cobra's seem to hold better.

The only complaint I have had about the Venom's is that in a cold wet rain, the front occasional had the tendency to slip if one got a little too aggressive in turns.....but was still much better overall than any previous tired.
LadyDraco......what's the weather like in your neck of the woods in mid-October? Boy and I are taking a two-week ride and thinking of going to Gettysburg then winding our way down towards Appomattox, sticking to the two-lane blacktops.

I have a Valk now too :)
Over the last few years I have owned 2 GS1200s, the first was totaled by a minivan being driven by a cell phone and luckily I was not hurt badly.... the second was made obsolete by getting married. The GS although it did everything I wanted to do very well is not a bike for 2 people. So after a false start by buying an old wing I found an 02 Interstate at the Honda dealer with 19K on it and brought it home. Its an awsome bike that does it all with class and charisma! My choice was confirmed when my neighbor brought home a new Roadglide Ultra, after sitting on it for a few minutes, watching it shake and vibrate the hardware store bolts holding it together till they were a blur, I realize what a great deal the Valks are. I wouldnt trade my IS for any bike. The ducatis used to be my faveorite sounding bike but the Dragon has it beat! |

OOPs
I didnt mean to bash harleys, just using them as an example of what a great deal a used Valkyrie is when compared to them.
My 01 I/S is a $6,900 bike that does everything the RD does as good or better within 90%, yet the cost difference is 350%. I could have a pristine example of each Valkyrie model made for the price of a new RG. And Valks get more appreciative looks from knowledgeable gearheds just because of the rarity and uniqueness. About the bolts..... you made my point exactly, Harleys are assembled with off-the-shelf industrial grade bolts just like you get from Lowes. Whereas practically every other manufacturer uses location specific, specially designed fasteners. I agree to disagree..... Some people like finely engineered machinerey and some like the appeal of steam locomotives. |
