Gmo
Getting back to the GMO Land issue from this April, are there any updates?
I think it was Dan who said someone on GMO land in Georgia got hurt, sued GMO and won. While trying to find information about such a lawsuit (I was unsuccessful), I did come across this nasty letter: http://natra.dirtrider.net/pdf_files/TDEC_Report1.pdf This really put a new light on land use issues, specifically crossing water. This may also shed some light on why GMO is so cold to Off Highway Vehicle access. Honestly, I never gave any thought to water crossings. There are plenty of pictures around here of water crossings, making it seem "OK". Maybe it's not "OK". Had the Alabama people known they were Violating a Clean Water Act, I'm sure they would have remedied the problem with bridges or re-routes. I know you cannot put up a house around here without silt fencing. It stands to reason we should not be causing silt to enter waterways from the use of our bikes. Andy |

Water crossings are a no-no from what I've been told. All the trails that I know of up this way ( logging roads mostly ) have bridges constructed over actual water courses. Any pics I've seen in the UP that entail watery stuff is usually from mud holes or anything caused by rain. Quite the fine if you're caught crossing any river in any kind of vehicle.
Even worse if your ride gets stuck in a body of water, just ask all the genius ice fishermen down in Keweenaw Bay or the even smarter snowmobile riders. You get fined by the day until you get your ride out of the drink.

Riding the Huron Mountains Saturday the 27th.
Anybody want to ride the Pesheekee Grade, Huron Mountains, the territory between L'Anse and Marquette, etc. with me this Saturday the 27th.? It will be cold and clear, .... no different than riding a snowmobile.

When you get deep enough into the woods, down some overgrown turkey trail, you may encounter one of these: ![]() If you do, I'd advise that you turn around. ![]() Any more pics? Cheers, Dave
