chain slider
Anyone want to talk about whittling out your own chainslider ?
I've never done it, but am about to be forced into it if I am to keep riding my Elefant. Any tips or time/money saving advice for me before I start in on it solo ? -CLC

Rear shock linkages...help
Hi there,
I'M Having my rear shock rebuilt after 20 years... it's off a pre 90 6N 750LE... the lower linkage arm bearings were shot. I've got new bearings and seals and wonder if anyone knows a match for the shafts.. they are 20mm outer, and 14mm inner diameter...I'M sure there's a match out there, but all the kits are advertised by model, and not dimensions... (i don't mind cutting down any hardened shaft if the size is right...gudgeon pin, swingarm shaft???) |

Looking at another one..question for ID of racks/guards
A somewhat local E900 is coming on my radar and the owner sent some pics and I have been looking at them trying to figure out what racks and engine guards are actually on the bike.
Anyone have a guess? I asked Mike Heth of Dumbo Development Labs and he knows they are not H&B - his guess was some French company, but he is not sure of the name. Possibly something like 4S..anyone have a guess? ![]()

It's been a few YEARS since I posted on ADVrider. Too busy with a fixer-upper house and all the other things to do here in the mountains of Northern New Mexico!
Those crash bars do look just like mine but I'm not sure of the brand either. They were on my bike when I bought it back in '99 or so. I once had a reader on the Elefant e-mail list identify them, but now I've forgotten what they are. The luggage rack in the photo you posted is different than mine. I got what may be one of the last GIVI racks made for the Elefant to be found anywhere. These others could be Happy Trails.... or... ? Good luck with your search! The Elefant is still one of my favorite bikes ever! And I've had mine over a dozen years!

Ah well. I am a member on the Elefant list - guess I will pose the question there. Thanks!

The List delivers!
Flyben from the Elefant list (and an inmate here) informed me that they are from the company Five Star. No longer manufactured for this model.

You really need to get a hold of Dewy V here on the forum. He builds a set of sliders that will out preform anything else you find. Very heavy duty and very well made!! I put a set on a e900 and they fit prefect and look like they will last forever.

I tried sending PM and contacting his son, have heard nothing about chain sliders still being available/made. he sold his Elefant, so not sure he is still interested in making them.
