Pensacola area riders

I'll have a look @ the tires mentioned. The tires that came on it are getting chewed to pieces but I just can't help my self

I ride every day to Destin from Crestview in this heat (usually in a full on Roadcrafter=HHHOOOTTT) I used to ride/race SoCal Dez, to be ready for the 2nd half of the season we had to ride in Aug - Sept. I am a candy ass now but if I get the chance to ride, it's on!

It's a big heavy pig, not the 300EXC I was hoping for, but I've raced heavy 4t's before, it'll just take a bit to get used to.

For anyone not knowing, this is the precursor to the 690 Enduro.

I wanna ride bad,,,,but dammit, I just can't get into riding Blackwater or Eglin until it gets cooler.
Same old same'O.
Plus, we're talkin about slowing down.

I agree with everything but that "slowing down part"....

Having said that Phil and I are gonna take a short early beast ride to somewhere in the morning. Any FWB locals want to join us for ride?

Picked this up 2 weeks ago. Haven't had time to even change to oil and clean the air filter but it had less than 2k on the clock and will be able to serve double duty as my motard commuter and weekend adventure bike.

She is sprung for a 220+ rider and as I said, I got to change the oil, check the valves, put in the stock springs, pull off some of the junk, put in a fresh air filter and eventually get a set of new rubber. What is the opinion of the collective on tire choice for Eglin sand and BW Forest riding, DOT or pure off road. I can easily see riding on Sunday and not getting her back into motard trim before heading off to work on Monday.

I guess it all depends if you are going to actually putting motard tires on the bike and switching back and forth...if so, then great, you have a litany of tires to choose from that Vic mentioned. That bike might be a bit much at Eglin with all the deep sand, but would be much better at Blackwater and if you are riding there more than Eglin, you'll want more a harder compound tire (D606, Metzler 6 days, Pirelli Scorpion....these are all good tires and DOT) due to the hardpack chewing up the MX tires really quick.


Talking about deers jumping out at you, a very close friend of mine's father was killed two years ago riding his Goldwing through the mountains of PA (where he lived) when a deer jumped out in front him and took the both of them out. You just never know.......

Tony, I have always prided myself on my "tolerance" level but I have never felt anything like that I have always hated pills & refuse to take em but this time I was watching the clock waiting on the next one A few days have passed now so its not too bad. The doctor won't even let me drive a car for 2 weeks. You know its bad when you don't even want ANY "attention" from mama. I'm just "lurking" here reading everything and wishing I could make some of the rides ya'll come up with. Appreciate the concern man....

P.S. Tony I have a photo album stuffed with my shots from the last 30 yrs or so and I think I have some with you in em, if you raced at milton in the 80's I think you were always in my class with John McLane & a bunch of others. We will have to get together some time & go through it........

Yea, I last raced Milton in the late 70's in the 125cc amature class on KX 125 and a Hodaka Combat.

You must have been a Pro rider if you raced John McLane. I sold him a almost new 78 "C" model RM100. He and his Dad modified that little dirt dobber and took it all the way to finish the series in the Supercross at the Dome. Awesome rider he was.

Reason that I bought the 100CC instead of a 125cc was that the class was quite a bit smaller. Didn't have two rows starting at the same time.

MISTAKE-MISTAKE! I was racing against fearless little shits that had just graduated from senior mini's.

Those little fella's made me work for a trophy.
It was fun banging bars with John and others for the 1st/2nd place trophy.



Always been a trail rider, but once in a while I'd dabble in enduros, hare scrambles and motocross. Time and again came back to trail riding.
