You dont quit riding when you get old, you get old when you quit riding.
I don't always ride street bikes, but when I do I prefer VStroms

MadHouse, what class you riding at the Barbers C.C.? You better trim them bars if it's like every year before.
It's usually pretty fun except when it has been dry, then it gets dusty. They do have some slight elevation changes and small hills, but it's usually well laid out. It is the only Barber off-road venue that allows post-vintage bikes.
You said something about it being just a ride and an experience, which it is, but some of those old guys haul azz and pour the coals to those old scoots and ride like they did in their prime of their youth.
They don't care who's in their way - they are after points!
I raced it for several years and it's a event and not to be missed!

Thanks!
Emailed the AHRMA lady and she said I could choose the PV 200 or the over 50 PV (I think) being I'm 59.
Gotta 1979 XR 185 and I can make it haul ass for a few minutes.
A LOT quicker than the DRZ 400 I have in the technical/tight stuff.
Plan on being in tune to fast riders approaching and will get out of their way quick-quick.

Looking forward to meeting you soon.
Again, appreciate that info.

I caught up with the BMW guys in Milton and rode some with them. We went to BZs property to meet Gimmie and RR and do some "instruction"...

I followed until they turned on to dirt and then Barney and I finished up with Norman Riley Road and back home early for a change.

Here are some pics... Im sure there will be more posts...

Sallad was riding with us.... good to see him again, and meet some new folks, (on pretty red 600GSs)

Practice Riding....

We had a good day.

Stayed on dirt practically the whole time.

BZ scared up a flock of young turkeys on one of the dirt roads that looked to be the same age as my pet turkey "Lurch"
gotta double click the picture:

You know Tony, in Kobe, Japan the farmers massage the cows too. That's why the beef is so tender!

Are you planning on eating your pet?

And that's where this ride might have to go.
Easy for you on your setup GS and easy for me on the stock Wee cause we've been riding offroad for many years.
Not so much for new riders on heavy bikes with street tires, and Jesse Box's full of stuff.
This event ain't about showing how good a rider we are.

A offroad clinic course will be a nice touch, but it's gonna take time/miles to get new riders to that easy- slow level.
Time/miles we don't have.
How about lets come up with a street ride with FEW of the very best(easy) dirt
roads that are in Blackwater and try again with Todd after he gets his handlebars and clutch lever replaced?

Or just put em in an eglin sand pit and tell em put the white needle on the redline :)

Kidding aside. Can do 2 separate rides for skill groups. If you get some of those rawhyde seniors they can do some crazy stuff on 1200s that would even make Billy think twice. At the overland expo this year they had a "rodeo" demo track setup that the rawhyde instructors rode with big whoops and some small jumps and they threw those things around like toys.

This a rawhyde event again or just BMW ralleye?
