Hey Mike, Looks like the little Katoom is as much at home on the track as it was in the woods!! Nice vid too!! Looks like you owned the track! Glad it is working out for you. I am already thinking I want to go back to a 200...

Yeah, you won't find any of that kinda riding on the Eglin range--except the deep sand. The blackwater area riding has some whoops and water berms that will launch you into orbit if you are game tho! We generally ride a medium pace since we are on jeep trails and logging roads and connecting them with paved and county dirt roads, and the lead rider must be prepared for oncoming traffic at all times, with a lot of blind curves thrown in for good measure.

We rode 45 miles the last outing at Speck Pond, and 65 the last time at Blackwater. We generally don't do a lot of passing on the ride to minimize the "race"/testosterone mode and keep the injuries and speeds down as well.

Not sure who you are, but watching that video you'd probably get bored riding the trails with us....you were ringing the shit out of that little 200! I don't think Skid would appreciate you abusing his little baby like that..... Nice video.

Skid, don't do it....stick with the 300! Once you get used to it, you'll love it. I've talked to a few people with the KTM/Husa 300's and they said that you have to get used to it and now they would never get rid of them. That bike is bad ass, honestly just ride it a gear higher and lug it...try not to ride the pipe that much and it's nice tamable.

I love the bike so far. I actually picked up a 05 250sx for the suspension but I decided to keep with what the 200 already has. Just works great everywhere. The thing is amazing in the single tracks at mossyhead. I used to hate the pds on the mx bikes on the trail. But this works great!

I have to raise the float some though. I'm getting a bog pretty bad holding it wide open like that on the track after a long stretch. Running out of fuel in the carb. I don't always like to ride like that video though. Just something I do every now and then.

I understand about being a lead guy on the trails. I grew up snowmobiling and fourwheeling in the woods of michigan. I wasn't much of a "racer" til the last few years since there are mostly tracks around here or you need a dual sport. So I figure its time to get into the dual sport things and slow it down. Everytime we go out trail riding back home it seems like I'm always in the lead. I learned the hard way about 9 years ago about flying down the trail while being up front. I was on a quad and met another one coming around a corner. We both walked away but both quads were unrideable. Ever since then I will never ride that way. To dangerous! I just like being on abike. back home we could take trails to one bar/pub/resturant to the next. Eat breakfast at one and lunch at the next. I miss that kind of riding thats for sure.

4 of us are heading to Mt. Cheaha on a scouting trip this saturday to modify the route.

Today Vic and I mapped out a nice route for a local dualsport ride which included some Blackwater roads and some nice dirt roads in Alabama that I found Sunday.

Funny, we rode through some crazy stuff racing enduros together but we probably looked like a couple of old ladies when we hit soft sand on those DL1000s!

We spotted Yellow and Blue DS bikes at the Munson store on HW4... We were already past when we spotted them so we didnt stop (late also and it was getting hot), Anyway should have stopped but didnt.
