Tony,
He's a really nice guy and down to earth for sure. I met him back in April when I was doing the parad lap during the opening of the Indy Car Race there at Barber.

At Barbers today

What a place!

Watched the cross country and Trials competition.
Got video of Steve A. and Doug K. in the trials event.

I MUST get the XR sorted out for next year cross country.

Looker who else I saw:

Can y'all tell me if speck pond is a good place to ride for beginners? Also do you need a permit if you're active military?

You will still need a permit. Several of us are active / retired military. The requirement is based on the fact that much of Eglin is off-limits and/or has the potential of unexploded ordnance. By requiring permits, Jackson Guard can ensure that anyone legally on Eglin property has been properly "briefed" on the rules and the hazards.

Speck has a mix of everything. The large dirt roads are mostly navigable, with occasion deep sand and in a few places, VERY deep sand. Try to circumnavigate those spots, or pick the best line you can and try not to slow down or stop while traversing the deep sandy areas. Some find that by sliding back on the seat and lightly skimming/dragging their feet using their legs/feet as out riggers, they can get through at a medium slow speed.

Connect the main dirt roads with jeep trails and ride at a speed commensurate with your skill level and bike setup. You can leave speck from the back left (northeast) corner or ride north up the pavement to the first dirt road and start exploring.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to try and get a permit ASAP...EOD school makes it hard to do these things

Yeah, this is what it looked like at the beginning of our 1000 mile trip.

It's a testament to how good Michelins are that it held together quite well after what we put it through.

I am at home this week and may go riding if anyone is interested in a weekday dirt ride. Out to Spec I imagine.

Anyone interested ?

If I dont go during the week I am thinking of camping out Friday night and riding all day Saturday.
Traveling Sunday for out of town work.

Just thinking at this point.

Anyone else interested...

Well I got the call Thurs. afternoon from KTMWorld in N- Atlanta that the bike was finished, left 11:15 that night to go get, got them to fix the slave cylinder, adj. the valves, and re-map it and the tac now works and it runs like a M-Fer now,
And now the F-ing Horn don't Work. guess ill check the wires.

Barbers was fun, as I was leaving I came across a Dirt Ninja Adventure Bike that was Bad-Ass, crash-bars,lights, ect. got a pic. of it try to post it some time.

Putting my gear one I herd ( There a Adventure Rider !!! ) Looked up saw 3 guys and a girl walking toward me with there middle finger pointed up, did not know them they all rode KTM's and had 950's I held up my ADV flag and then they said Your,e the super hero guy on the WTF page. Had to talk to them for a good while, Boy them 950 people can talk and talk and talk and talk all day.

I think I saw the same Ninja on Sunday. Red?

Barber's was great this year as usual. Brother bought a parts bike for an old SL100 Honda project.

Racing was terrific and got to see some old friends.

Good times.....
