I rode down Russell yesterday by my old house while I was making the rounds to the banks on payday. Today I was nowhere near Wright but I did go through FWB on my way to get my range pass. Then out to Destin, back through FWB on my way back out to Navarre. Could have been me? Probably was yesterday.

Yep that was you. I live on Russell and saw you go by....

Then I saw you out towards the Golf Course this morning...

So come on out tomorrow and we will play!

My son lives in Navarre also, as does Wods Rider...

Tony,
He's a really nice guy and down to earth for sure. I met him back in April when I was doing the parad lap during the opening of the Indy Car Race there at Barber.

At Barbers today

What a place!

Watched the cross country and Trials competition.
Got video of Steve A. and Doug K. in the trials event.

I MUST get the XR sorted out for next year cross country.

Looker who else I saw:

Can y'all tell me if speck pond is a good place to ride for beginners? Also do you need a permit if you're active military?

You will still need a permit. Several of us are active / retired military. The requirement is based on the fact that much of Eglin is off-limits and/or has the potential of unexploded ordnance. By requiring permits, Jackson Guard can ensure that anyone legally on Eglin property has been properly "briefed" on the rules and the hazards.

Speck has a mix of everything. The large dirt roads are mostly navigable, with occasion deep sand and in a few places, VERY deep sand. Try to circumnavigate those spots, or pick the best line you can and try not to slow down or stop while traversing the deep sandy areas. Some find that by sliding back on the seat and lightly skimming/dragging their feet using their legs/feet as out riggers, they can get through at a medium slow speed.

Connect the main dirt roads with jeep trails and ride at a speed commensurate with your skill level and bike setup. You can leave speck from the back left (northeast) corner or ride north up the pavement to the first dirt road and start exploring.

Cool, thanks for the info. I'll have to try and get a permit ASAP...EOD school makes it hard to do these things
