Thanks for the info. I talked to honmudog and he said he might do a ride later, and then maybe one tomorrow as well so Ill probably just play the wait and see game, and not try to catch up to the guys today.

Dave Despain at the Tour De Appalachicola
Treeman (Mark P.) sent me these pictures. Told me that Dave Despain (probably the most famous announcer of motorcycle events on Speed Channel and Motoworld) was at at the Tour De Appalachicola this past weekend.
![]() and here's one with Mark on the far right. ![]() Man, those KLR guys have got it goin on for sure! ![]() Dave Despain would fit right in with us. Get a load of his rant here on youtube. Go Dave!

That looks stout enough! What 3- 4 hundred pounds?
Nice tourch work on the teeth. BTW- at one time long ago I was certified all position all metal, but that was when they only had bronze and were just getting into this "iron" thing.

Yep, he sure was. Cool guy to talk to. We wound up going off on different rides but I think he rode with a few of the KLR guys.

Dave is genuinely a cool guy that loves to ride just like the rest of us. Any doubt?, just look at the wear on his Darien jacket
I had hoped to ride with him but it didn't quite work out for me either. I think I heard him say that he was thinking about attending another up coming KLR gathering this year. We all had a great time, wet, but still a lot of fun!

Best laid plans
I'm out for Tuesday. I have been informed that tomorrow is a teacher planning day. The kids are out of school. Considering I have been on the road for three weeks I will be spending the bonus time with my boys.
Thanks again for the offer to accompany me on a ride. I will hit the woods one day. honorjr |

Easy Stuff
Here is a link I picked up showing how easy the European Enduros really are. They can't even lay out a tough course. These guys ride in teams and stop and talk all the time and fiddle with each others bikes.

Thanks for posting that Vic. I've lost lots of riding buddy's through the years to other hobby's on account of them doin stuff like that. Hobby's like sailing, golfing, RC control, drag racin, you name it. They'd say to me: "Common Tony, its FUN doin this". Nowadays, I'd say back:
" Wait till I get my camera out! " I'm still ridin after all these years, and they ain't!

Well, some pictures from todays ride. It was an adventure to say the least.
When I got home realized I didn't have tracks enabled on my GPS so I have no idea where we were, somewhere between 87 and 85 First Mug tested the "when it doubt, gas out" theory.. blazed some new trails ![]() Stopped ![]() Then the KLR stopped running, and started again. And then the DRZ spit its chain off ![]() ![]() Ended up having to tow the DRZ across the range behind the klr ![]() Now the KLR stopped, again. And this time it wouldn't start. ![]() Ended up being clutch safety switch. Eventually Richard got a ride home, and the rest of us stopped at mug crater
