update

Made it to bland, virginia today! Will finish va tomorrow and possibly venture into wv. Rode with rich for three days and thoroughly enjoyed it, sure he did too. Spoke to him early afternoon, he made it back to his car and was headed to his cabin in tn.
Still enjoying the trip, sore ass and all. I've been seeing what I thought was road apples from time to time on the forrest roads in the mtns, took a closer look this evening and pretty sure now that bears do in fact sometimes shit on the road. Not only did this revelation explain the lack of hoof prints, it also made me realize camping was out for the evening.
first you must master the "slow ride" technique, grasshoppa

I can/will pm ya some more pointers but alot of the shane watts methodology starts with the slow ride (watch his foot).

thanks again yall, I feel pretty damn good about this season, tons of fun and yes Vico, enduroitis has certainly bitten. maybe next season I may even ride a harescramble or 3.

trailsaw, you have hit the nail on the head - I actually kinda lucked out - not many in my class (C-lites) makes the competition easier to defeat. but I'll take a win even if its not over a whole field of competitors!
thanks marc... but about that finishing thing.... yea, none of the 3 of us actually "finished"

there were 3 C200 riders, we all made 3 checks, and the other two did it faster than me.. which relegated me to third.

see, this is why we need more folks racing - to liven up the C class!

huh?

phaedrus there used to be a rule in racing that if you stopped to help another rider and it effected your finish you could recieve points that would otherwise be lost.

Im not aware of that rule at SERA events. Dog eat dog brother!

There was a rider who was famous for stopping to help others in a jam. Riding for the fun of it and he would always stop and help others. As a result he never finished high up in his class... so after years of this what did SERA do... they gave him the Sportsman of the Year Award and his own helmet.

The gentlemen's name was Ben Womble. I am proud to say I voted for that well deserved award.

You should enjoy these. Too bad it wont rain, then you could really see what traction is like.

Cant make it today but enjoy the ride and dont get lost.... there are closed areas out there so watch your map or stay on the trails we rode.

wow, I had no idea!

certainly doesn't surprise me, and I definitely learned that behaviour from him. anytime I pass someone who isnt actively riding I at least give them a thumbs up to see if they return it, if not completely stopping and asking if theyre ok. and if it's females stuck in mud well, of course ima stop for that!
