thanks marc... but about that finishing thing.... yea, none of the 3 of us actually "finished"

there were 3 C200 riders, we all made 3 checks, and the other two did it faster than me.. which relegated me to third.

see, this is why we need more folks racing - to liven up the C class!

huh?

phaedrus there used to be a rule in racing that if you stopped to help another rider and it effected your finish you could recieve points that would otherwise be lost.

Im not aware of that rule at SERA events. Dog eat dog brother!

There was a rider who was famous for stopping to help others in a jam. Riding for the fun of it and he would always stop and help others. As a result he never finished high up in his class... so after years of this what did SERA do... they gave him the Sportsman of the Year Award and his own helmet.

The gentlemen's name was Ben Womble. I am proud to say I voted for that well deserved award.

You dont quit riding when you get old, you get old when you quit riding.
I don't always ride street bikes, but when I do I prefer VStroms

You should enjoy these. Too bad it wont rain, then you could really see what traction is like.

Cant make it today but enjoy the ride and dont get lost.... there are closed areas out there so watch your map or stay on the trails we rode.

wow, I had no idea!

certainly doesn't surprise me, and I definitely learned that behaviour from him. anytime I pass someone who isnt actively riding I at least give them a thumbs up to see if they return it, if not completely stopping and asking if theyre ok. and if it's females stuck in mud well, of course ima stop for that!

yup.

oh and ive been trying to find a video of the grinding practice, but apparently that doesnt exist. so if anyone wants to find a nice long pine tree with minimal knots about 10" diameter at the big end, Ill show ya how its done.

you can see the technique done on a railroad track at 0:20 and 0:38 and a quick glimpse of it in the dirt at 0:27

It's a great technique to deal with muddy ruts. He also taught us how not to chop the throttle in a panic when you ride through technical stuff like mud and to have confidence.

I see it helped you too! Great job!

huh?

i was racing in ECEA and it was a surprise to me to recieve finisher points after i stopped to help a rider with a compound fracture , causing me to dnf.
after the next race , when they were handing out the awards they called me up and gave me points for finishing that race and for helping another rider.
nice surprise!
