Ethinol gasoline

This stuff has cost me plenty in the past couple years.
Episode 1 was my weedeater. Press the priming bulb and it broke. Install a new one and find out the carburator gaskets were in the same condition.
Gaskets and time to fix.

Episode II, Go to bust-off the bigwheel push mower. Carb spraying gas like a seev. Too hot to mow anyway.

Last straw was my generator last weekend. Went to put in some treated gas to get it ready for Hurricane season. Gas cap gasket had snapped in several pieces and one piece fell off in the gas tank as I was removing it. Brittle as a stick of spaghetti.

Been using different gasoline additives for years to combat Ethinol gas, but its looking like this stuff is toxic to small engines in spite of additive claims. Probably hurting our motorcycles too.

Now doing more study on the internet and so far it ain't good at all.

In the meantime, I've searched out the few gas stations that sell gasoline without ethinol and there ain't that many stations out there.
Up here in Cantonment, Gee Willies has just started advertising pure gas and I'm happy about that.

In case you're interested,,,here's a map showing stations selling gasoline without ethinol:

Madhouse - if anyone, YOU should know. Good poop mang. I knew that chit wasn't friendly. Though it's tough to tell WHAT your getting these days when your in a rush. My 4-stroke cadet weed whacker has been problem free for 3 years now (as I tap my wooden skull). GREAT weed whackage that does... The generator -- I need to give that LOUD, crudely built, POS a whirl today or tomorrow... at SFII it was being a complete batch. The forrest gump snapper? Well, after 5 years, and a "refresh" this spring at the dealer -- so far so good, but it has been doing a high/low idle thing... SIGH!

I have a Home Depot/Lowes four-wheel 3HP 4 stroke edger that I don't need anymore - like new 'cept it doesn't start (LOL) - 40 bucks and a 12 pack to any of my PAR buds who'd want it and are tired of 2stroke edgers.... It think it's like 3 years old and I've used it maybe 4 times. I KNOW it's something easy to fix -- but I have a guy that does my edging now, so I don't wanna frick with it.

Vic -- ya big tease! Wish Ida got up w/that dude you know who had that 2smoke KTM a few years back. That was a GOOD deal...

Yea Pete, I knew.
But like most of us, I was putting a semblance of hope in those additive claims.

As usual its "Tell us lies and feed us candy" advertising.

More research!

Debbie and I rode (the sailboat). Did an overnight cruise and it was H O T! I was telling her that I could be riding the 24 hour race but this was much safer.

Right, up till the thunderstorm hit last night with 35kt gusts! The anchors held and we made it but it was still hot and sticky. I may trade some gear for an AC and generator for that boat!

Oh Shit!

Hot

Getting to old to rough it.

Was a time when riding was ALL.!

who cared how hot or cold or wet it was. This trip we rode a few hours and spent the rest of the time inside the trailer under cold AC and looked out at the lake. Slept a lot and waited for 6PM. Even then it was just to hot to have any fun.

Hell it was to hot to ride the Vstrom...

I hope everyone made it ok at the 24hour. I would hate to see such a great even spoiled by a heat incident!

My ride report for the weekend: rode out to Vortex Spring Friday to meet up with some of my old students for our 11th annual reunion/campout. Temps were blazin hot as expected, but the spring was its usual super-chilly 68 degrees. That'll sho nuff take the edge off the heat! It cooled off enough both nights to make tent camping bearable just barely...

I taught these gazoonies back in '99-'00 when they were juniors in high school. I've had the immense honor and privilege to be invited to their annual campout since they started the tradition in '01. Haven't missed one yet.

Here's to you, fellas!
