Hey Banjo,
Great riding with ya. Main street was a blast and less traffic than I remebered from my last bike week in 1991.

Day 8 of 10, Friday Mar. 7th
There was a group breakfast ride planned for Friday and getting up early hadn't been a problem for me while sleeping in the tent. But I guess lack of sleep was beginning to take it's toll and I overslept for the group ride.
No worries though, The Spoon brothers, Big and Little aka DirtDOG and SkidLid weren't riding either and they offered me a plate of scrambled eggs. Thanks Guys!! Then I think they packed up their boats and bikes and headed for home. I checked the radar and seen that a massive storm front was headed right at us and it had already spawned some tornados and was expected to continue to throughout the day. So.....being that I'm not very smart and all........I decided to ride straight for it!! I figured if I headed west into the National Forest I could turn tail and race it back east when it started to look bad out. Typical numbered road in ONF ![]() The wind was kicking up across Lake Dorr ![]() I stayed mainly to numbered roads as I didn't want to get way out in the middle of nowhere in case I were to have troubles while I was riding alone. ![]() I guess you might call this a boat landing....it's the same "party spot" Dukeryder and I found last year. ![]() I tried a new trick with the camera.....I put inside my face shield but my nose was in the way so the video looks of to the right. Climbing the biggest hill in Florida. In this one I'm riding one handed and shooting video with the other while trying not to fall over in a puddle. Now by the time I got to the other side of the lake...the water was now smooth as glass. Could it be the calm before the storm? ![]() I was feeling brave so I followed this cool looking jeep trail. ![]() Riding one handed on the jeep trail maybe this is the biggest hill in Florida.![]() At any rate, that sky is starting to look spooky.....I skeered...I go back now

Antique auction
![]() So far so good.....no rain, no wrecks, no breakdowns. Just as I entered DeLand the roads were wet but the sun was shining bright. So I decided to stop by the antique bike auction at the college and see if anybody dared ride-in on their classics with the threat of storms and tornados. Not as many as in years past...but there was more than a few brave souls. Parking lot eye candy..... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Remember these are NOT the aution bikes....but the ones people rode to the auction. ![]()

Back at camp before the storm!!
We lucked out in DeLand with storms all around us.
![]() Dang it....my brain is slipping gears again....I can't remember the owner of this bikes name or screen name......but I do remember we repaired a screen door and helped put the africa twin back together and he later went to the moto-x races and sat in the rain....btw cool bike.![]() ![]() Mrs KBM, Lobby and Ace enjoying the calm before the storm. ![]() The Africa Twin on it's way back to the land of the living. ![]() Ace...and the campground....notice how they all got scared and left. ![]() ![]() I don't think that these guys were quite as lucky as I was, dodging the rain on Friday. ![]() The "new soggy bottom boys"?? ![]() ![]() The rain finally set in for the evening and we all piled into cages and went out to eat. The distinguished company I keep. ![]() Shocking ![]() ![]() The nightly special was Prime Rib. ![]() ![]() Good times indeed ![]() ![]() ![]() Later that night I was happy to once again find it nice and dry inside my tent. But it did get a little loud in there later on....

Day 9 of 10, Saturday Mar.8th
It may take a couple "chapters" to finnish off Sat. as I've got lots of pics...but I better get to it before I forget, again.
![]() I decided to start the day off by checking over the old DR before it's big ride home the next day. Oil change, again. Chain lube and a general once over looking for loose and or missing parts. I found a little wildlife refuge/ viewing area on the edge of town. ![]() I was hoping to see a gator...or something.... ![]() It looked like spring in Florida ![]() Look a deer....not a motorcyclists best friend. ![]() It didn't hang around too long. ![]() Then somewhere up near 40 I think I seen this old village and decided to check it out.![]() An old Banjo....that makes 2![]() ![]() This was the schoolhouse...a period classroom. ![]() The school kitchen. ![]() The general store. ![]() reverse angle ![]() kinda looks like a big-ol-still to me![]() ![]() Some of DirtDOG's family was there.....you do know that he used to live in Florida ![]() ![]() ![]() RRRRaaannnnddyyyyyy ![]() The log cabin ![]() It was a neat little museum kind of place..and I think they have some festivals etc there too. But about this time I'm asked if I'm with a tour?....no ma'am I'm just looking around......well you can't be out here if you're not with a tour blah blah blah... ![]()

Saturday continued........
![]() I hadn't planned on venturing out into the forest today......but after I managed to escape from the stocks ![]() ![]() I've never been able to resist riding down a road like this.... ![]() ![]() I don't use a GPS and didn't know exactly where it led to....but with my manly hunter instincts and keen sense of direction....I ventured on. ![]() ![]() One of the roads I tried dead ended here. ![]() The water must have been deep. Check out the ladders and platforms that go waaay up into the trees. ![]() The Ocala National Forest really is a beautiful place. ![]() ![]() ........and to think......the fun was just about to begin......
