Yikes, thats a tuff one. I'll have to look at mine and see if I can think of a way to stop it from turning.

New NX250 owner - what should I do first?
I'm a pround new owner of an '89 NX250. It is in pretty good shape with just over 3000 miles on the odometer. It starts and runs well, has good tires, all working lights, etc. However, I think prior to my purchase it had not been ridden much (if at all) over the past few years. Before I start riding it, is there anything I should do first?
I plan to change oil, filter and probably change the air filter also for good measure. Anything else I should be thinking about? Thanks everyone - I promise to get some pics up soon. |

Okay so I just noticed Neduro's Spring Bike Maintenance and Setup Guide - this seems like a great list of items to check - apologies for not seeing this earlier. Anything specific to the NX250 that I should be aware of?

Me - 1
Garage - 1 So I got the stuck bolt out. The plastic "pillar" that the threaded insert was in was cracked and I was able to pull it out. The epoxy is setting up as I'm typing this. The crappy part is that my damn black hole of a garage ate my accelerator pump spring. Anyone know another model that it might cross reference to? I would really rather not have to pay the $72 that Bike Bandit wants for the whole pump and spring.EDIT. I just broke down and spilled 65 beans on a new pump diaphragm kit . . . damn it. No doubt I'll find the spring in a month or so.

Today I got some time to work on the NX. I fixed the annoying problem of not being able to go 200 miles between fill ups!

I went online a couple weeks back in search of a KN filter for the NX. Now I know that KN doesn't make a filter specifically for the NX-250, but they have a nifty tool allowing you to search by filter dimension. I found one filter that had similar dimensions to the stock unit.
Part #MG-0001 fits the Moto Guzzi V1000 LeMans/California models. It's 4"x6". It just came in the mail yesterday. I'll put up pics this afternoon on the install. Filtered area is somewhat smaller than the stock Honda unit but, I figure it's used on a 1000cc bike, so there shouldn't be a problem. The only bad part is that this KN seems to be a hard to get item. KN doesn't show it in stock, so a call to one of the MG dealers would be required.

Battery
Gentlemen, I can't seem to locate an OEM type battery locally for less than $80. Anyone have any suggestions for an on line source you've had good luck with?
Thanks, HappyRiding

Battery ordered. Thanks for the tip. No more rolling down the hill only to discover that the gas isn't turned on.
