Why? You can hardly call a sidecar a Panzer.
It was not unusual for different division to have many different escot vehicles.
This symbol would only ID its relationship from another division, much as a should patch would help ID personal.
Only guessing mind you. I would bet the owner would know better.

Of course, I've been in military service, I know how an army is structured, but as you might guess, the SS divisions where dismantled after 1945. This bike is clearly post war, as is the sidecar.
Iḿ very curious what the explanation of the owner would be.

Correct. And yes, motorcycles and motorcycles w/sidecars were part of the
unit and indeed most mechanized units.

I had an art gallery - Military and Motor Sport Art Gallery - and used the R60 and this:

as "unpaid" salesmen - would park them around town with brochures on them
Worked like a champ! Great salesmen - NO saleries, NO sick days NO vacations!

This maybe from a family member of a vet. Perhaps a father, uncle or grandfather was in this unit.
Germany has reunion gatherings of the old vets from WWII. They are not all villians as other countries may view them.

Germany has a current law which will get anyone a year in jail for openly using the arm forward or raised w/ open hand salute. The gov't takes this law very serious.

Good evening Wolfgang,
as far as the fees for uprising certain arms, other couldn`t keep their hands in the pocket.
Just googl NSU, not the bikes, it is a shame.
Me dad was member off the unit, Dan mentioned, he is still living after 5 years vacation from 1945 to 1950.
He was working, for free, with his two sisters.
He went to some meeting after war, but not a lot survived.
Government went to these meetings too, have a look for the plates.
But he is still my father, the time in the unit and the vacation had to be done. No one asked him, if he would do another thing.
But the russians saved his life, from Tito troops, and on the other hand, in Russia, they were very decent people, he created in me a good picture, about the russians.
But i would never use any insignias, concerning the brown time.
And when you see the right winger in Hungaria, Greece, France and so on,
nothing to be proud off.
These brownies come and stay, what do they have in their madheads.
Greeting Hans
