Hi inmates!
I just got back from a 3-day trip doin Banaue Rice Terraces to Bontoc then exiting at Baguio. Last years ago I did the same loop but it was more of a duallie ride. Now it is really very friendly even for sportsbikes. I used my 640A ang roade with the Ducati Pilipinas group. Here's some pix of my last weekend's trip. Herc with my 10 yr old daughter Sunshine as pillion ![]() A photo ops stop along the way ![]() Here's my arrival shot ![]() The famous Banaue Boundary Arc ![]() A view from the Balcony of where we stayed, The Banaue View Inn ![]() The Banaue Tourist Information Center t the heart of Town. ![]() The newly cemented roads now.... ![]() A sample of the rice terraces you can see there along the road. ![]() The roads are paved all the way with some short dirt roads only. ![]()

This is a Banaue MAP.......
![]() The Must See Places whilke there.... ![]() Must See Places: Tourist Spot 1 - Trade Center 20 minutes walk from Banue Hotel is the center of activity. Wider variety of Souvenir shops. Saturday is Market day. usually starts from 7:00am to 6pm. Tourist Spot 2 - Tam-am Village About 240 step down from Banaue Hotel. Interesting to see are the bones of their ancestors, bundled, preserved and wrapped in colorful hand woven blankets. Tourist Spot 3 - Bocos Village One could find interesting huts adorned with heads and horns of carabaos and skulls of wild pigs. These ornaments reveals the welath of the families. Here the villigers keep their most sacred ride idol (Bulol) in a rice granary. The Bulol is exposed only during harvest time and calls for a lengthy rite of bathing the idol with the blood of animals. Visitors may see/photograph the bulol only with the consent of the owner. Tourist spot 4 - Poitan Village One could find here the magnificently lined huts on mountain slopes. You could see the old legendary "stone post" protected and idolized by the village people. Have the chance top see the most sacred idol of th Ifugaos, the "rice god" - protects the grains in the granary. Find here weavers / carvers too. Tourist Spot 5 - Guihob Natural Pool Aproximately4 kms from Banue Proper or a 45 minutes hike from the town center. Ideal place for picnics and for a cool refreshing swim in a crystal clear spring water coming from a small waterfalls within the pool area. Tourist Spot 6 - Banaue Viewpoint 20 minutes traveled by car/bus from town center. A perfect spot for view - top of a plateau great taking pictures of the rice terraces. Tourist Spot 7 - Hapao Rice Terraces Walled terraced built centuries ago. It is believed that this is the origin of the terrace culture of the Ifugaos. Located 9kms from the town proper of Hungduan Tourist Spot 8 - Banga-an Village An alternative for those who can't make the 2 hour hike from Batad Proceed to the village of Banga-an 2kms.. further at the junction leading to Batad. Tourist Spot 9 - Batad (The Amphitheater like Terraces) The trip to Batad practically takes the whole day and is recommended only for strong hikers. From Banaue, it is approximately 16kms. 12kms of which can be travelled by transportation, the rest is by hiking on the mountain trails - a 2 hour hike. Tourist Spot 10 - Cambulo Village It is an hour and a half hike from Batad taking the shortcut trail. The alternative route if from the National Road of Kinakin by passing thru the Barangay road uphillto the saddle,. then walk the trail downhill up to the village. This take 2 to 2 1/2 hours hike

Before heading up Banaue, there is a buko Pie store and restaurant that is a "Must Stop to Eat" place
![]() Another shot of me and my daughter ![]() First viewpoint stop in Lagawe . Less than an hour's ride before Banaue town proper. You can see beyond the bridge crossing to Banaue. ![]() ![]() Finally the magnificent view of Banaue! This is the view from the balcony. Beyond the parking of our bikes.

Herc,
Looks like a fun trip. Great to see that you included your Daughter again in your ride. These are things that she will remember always. I am getting restless, I am returning to the PI in May. ( just in time for the rainy season). I hope to get in some rides between storms. Thanks again for showing some people who haven't been there, how wonderful the riding is in the Philippines. Take Care... |

Yes sir! We had fun alright. I brought along my 2nd daughter (Sunshine), but this is not the same daughter who rode with me last year (Sabrina--> 1st daughter). I am sure she will treasure every moment of the ride with her Dad just like what her "Ate" did. During the rainy season here, it's not all bad. There are still chance to ride between storms as always. Will hook up with you when your here whenever possible. Your welcome! Will try my best to show how beautifull the Philippines is for riding. More pix of the ride to be uploaded soon.

Woke up early the next day. Then off to Las Vegas Resto in the town proper for breakfast, a walk down a hundred steps and a vertical descent of around 100 meters.
Come to where the flavor is. Come to Marlbo...er, Las Vegas Restaurant! :) ![]() Breakfast is served. Porksilog (Fried pork and egg with wild mountain rice) ![]() While we were having breakfast, I asked my daughter Sunshine to watch over the HyperMotard . ![]() That was, of course, a joke. ![]() Herc, Shine, and a ride buddy BB999 ![]()

After "Breakfast at Las Vegas," there was enough time for us to go around town and see the sights. We had to settle with those closeby.......
Behind the town market was a hanging bridge. To get there, you needed to go down several steep steps. ![]() That's at least a hundred foot drop ![]() View from the other side of the bridge.

A few kilometers out of town was another view point overlooking some terraces. We stopped for some photo-ops.
A ride buddy of mine and an "Apo" Igorot ![]() "Apo" (the term for old Igorot) told him that he likes the single swing arm. ![]() Seeing them up close, it's easy to understand why the Banaue Rice Terraces were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
