Not really a ride report. Melbourne F1 GP day one.

It will probably take me a day or two to get all the pictures processed and up on the net but here is the start of my day at the races (well practices actually).

The Shannons car display

Brock and Richards one Aussie legend and one Kiwi legend, unbeatable really.

The car the created the legend

It's not as old as it looks. Check it out here.

So after you have cast an eye of some lovely old machinery it's off to the Paddock Club which is entered via the Qantas Cafe and Grill.

where a stop for coffee is in order (I reckon these are charged out at about US$100.00 per cup).

Everything is set up for the eventual opening

and security is on the job

between the Qantas Grill and the Paddock club you see the Team areas behind the pits.

The Paddock Club

some corporate smooching (gotta secure next years tickets :) )

the view out the window

sticking the camera out the window to the left (pit entrance end)

and to the right (pit exit end). There seemed to be some sort of problem in the pits where some red cars were judging by the people standing around.

While the pit walkers were out taking photos of largely empty pits this bloke drove past in a red car which seemed to excite people (I noticed that it was being typically Italian and required some assistance to achieve forward motion).

and the RAAF Roulettes came out to play

and the pit walkers seemed to get all excited where the red cars live

and the fly boys got bored and headed home

Nice pics.

Are F1 cars going to have a rudder now?

Some behind the scenes storage.

Listen mate. No pit pass, no entry and there is a dress code so just go on your way.

So eventually not long before I had to leave the boys went out to play.

No wheel spin here

or here

want to know the serial number of Alsono's car? It's 283!

finally one that's in focus

and there was some old guy going around out there as well.

Them pit walkers can't get enough here they are lining up like it's Disneyland 15 minutes before the start of the walk

then I thought we were about to be invaded

but it turned out to be the Army trying to one up the fly boys

the fly boys never waved to the crowd. Army 1, Air Force nice try.

but they eventually got bored and went home as well.
