Take the smallest drillbit you have and drill a small hole in the seal, then take a small fine thread wood screw and screw about two threads in the hole then pull on the screw.
Before putting the screw in I would use a shop vac to suck any shavings out of the hole, even if you cant get them out they are really soft and no damage will occur if they get past the bearing.

so my bike has less than 2 hours on it and the end cap/screen has gone missing. Is it the actual spark arrestor or is it just a noise reducer? i wouldnt bother with it if its just for noise, but i do want to ride in the forest and dont want a ticket from a ranger for no spark arrestor..

thanks. i agree about noise being bad, but i havent been able to tell its any louder than when the screen was in, the stock pipe seems reasonably mellow to me.

I took out the restrictor inside and somehow my screen also fell out on a ride, guess i didnt screw it back on tight enough. Anyhow noise does slightly increase but still very respectable. I get passed by some of those crotch rockets that are much more loud. Theres also a vid on youtube with a sound test with the above mods, it ranged 94-95 db.

A pic of the AWD build as it sits, about 60% complete. Taking my time, 1st KTM so familiarizing myself with not only the bike, and setup, decorking, emissions delete, aftermarket armor, suspension, controls and other parts, but also the AWD conversion.
Question: Is the black plastic housing in the coolant lines above the crankcase a thermostat? Can I eliminate it? With factory XCW parts, or an aftermarket line kit? Thanks in advance. |

Also, as above the screen in the exhaust tip is NOT the spark arrestor? It's for noise supression? I wired it on. Cut out the internal restrictor.

![]() I think the real spark arrestor is a Krizman (sp?) type way down in the muffler.

530 changes from 2008-2009? I know they fixed some things with the 2009s, and that would be the way to go, but if you found a 2008 for the right price...
How would you know if it was a burner if buying it used? What could you check? Anything that would make less than 2009 a deal breaker? I know Ned seemed to like his 2009 a lot more. |
