All cleaned up ready for Hatfield & McCoy this weekend. I would have liked to have had 13/52 and an MT43 rear tire, but I'm sure it will be a blast.

Probably been desmogged, and those are the carb vent tubes and float bowl drain tube, exiting the bottom of the bike.

I have mine running through a carb vent filter before they're open to the atmosphere, FWIW.

7602 racing makes a nice setup for that.

Just opened up my 11 450 xcw after 95 hours, and the carb is still clean inside, which is a first. Usually there's all kinds of backwash above the slide, the carb vent filter seems to have sorted that.

Valves still haven't moved one bit, impressive!

Seafoam ?

Thanks for the vent tube advice. What filter for tube - link?

Fuel issue - back story:

BIke last was ridden Nov 5th 2011, added a bit of StaBil to the tank which was nearly full - Chevron Supreme. Now she runs - but only on full choke. Pop & sputter while rolling on throttle. Not ridden yet due to this. It was suggested to buy SeaFoam - just bought a bottle.

Question: Add direct to tank or direct to carb (both methods are on bottle) by some method?

Reply from guy who set up my suspension - really knows these bikes :

Carb needs to be cleaned, pilot jets clogged. Sea foam or other additives wont help now, too late

He's right. Gas these days sucks. It's happened to me a couple of times and I feel like sending the state a bill each time.

Oh crap. Is this something I can do myself? Quite mechanically inclined, but have never worked on a bike carb.

KTM Explorer,

There are several videos here to walk you through it. It is not that difficult and you will be surprised at what you find in there and how much smoother the bike runs.

On another note I just checked the valves after 65 hours. The .17mm gage had to be forced under the exhaust valves and the .15mm gage went under with some drag. The intake valves seemed a little loose, but just at the outer limit of the spec. Another 20 hrs and there will need to be a shim replacement done.

Is that a Seat Concepts seat?

I am seeing things from $5000 - $7800. Huge range for 2008s mostly. Rarely an '09 will show up. LA seems to have more, but that is just too far to drive. Just got laid off on Friday so I'm not sure I'll be picking one up. Geez - Pains me to look at that cash just sitting there. Gotta do what's right though.

Yes it is. Improvement over stock, but it might be a little too soft if you are 200+ like me. I'm not sure yet.

Yep, that's the one I use also. I like it.

The only thing I don't like is that the allen key bolts that they use to secure the filter are a tiny, SAE size, which drives me crazy, so I have to keep a specially labelled allen key in the tool kit for JUST that carb vent filter holder.

Hmm looks pretty easy. Can the jet removal be reasonably (fairly easily) done with the carb on the 530 EXC?
