530 and FCR carb

As far as I know thye all came with that carb until the last year of the carb'd bikes. Should be an FCR39. Why are you wanting to go to the carb on a 96' DR?

Thanks
All 2000-2011 400/450/520/525/530 EXC models came with a 39mm FCR-MX, all 400+ SX models with a 41mm.

The 00-07.5 and 07.5+ have a different size though.

Garmin Montana

Anyone use a Garmin Montana on their KTM? Non-KTM specific question:

I have a RAM bar mount unit with the cradle. Works great. Want to change to the Garmin Rugged Mount to provide power at all time to the unit - bought one.

Bought a 4-hole RAM ball mount to (theoretically) bolt on to the 4 hole rugged mount....................bzzzzzzt no go.

What do I need to purchase to hook the Gar rugged mount to?

THX!

The DRs???

He is looking at buying my FCR and yes T-S, it is a 39mm for sure off a 09 530EXC.

More to the interests of the subscribers here, my 530 is now wearing a 41mm FCR off my parted out SXf450/505 with JD jetting kit installed and refined for the 505. I expected to have some jetting to test & tune to get it right but out of the box it already runs better than it ever did with the JD tuned 39mm.

Interesting. Tell me more. Have an extra 41mm FCR off an SX that I was going to put on one of these bikes. But it runs pretty damn good with the stock carb now that it's all jetted and tuned.

A guy called MX-Rob did a bunch of dyno testing comparing 39mm vs. 41mm FCR-MXs on a DR650 over on Thumpertalk if you want to do a search. For slow fat pigs like the DR and XRL I'd stick with a 39mm, you will enjoy the better bottom-mid torque more than you will 1 or 2 HP on top.

The bigger KTM RFS and XC4 engines have enough bottom end as it is and they don't weigh much, so they benefit more from the bigger carbs.

Slap it on! It gave the bike a better snap for sure and top end seems to be more agressive, more MXish. Lost nothing as far as grunt, all positives IMO, no downside. Still very managable just not as dull.

Yeah, why not. Jetting? MPG? Bike runs really clean and averages just under 50mpg right now.

Try the jetting you have in the 39. I was lucky my setting off my 505 were spot on, it even idled smoother. The great thing about having it right there is you can always go back to your starting point.

What do you have to lose if you can simply bolt it back together the way it is now???

For those of you that run the KTM 6.3 gal tank. I am having issues when the tank runs down to about the 4" mark or so. The bike starts to back fire and then dies, like it's starving for gas. Then starts up like nothing happened. Then 15 minutes down the road, does the same thing. It only happens when the fuel level reaches this level. Wondering what is causing it? Fuel hoses are all below petcocks. I thought it might be a heat issue at first and rerouted hoses and lined the underside of tank but still happens and only once fuel reaches that lower area. Still obviously looks of gas left. Vapour lock? Any suggestions? Thanks!
