Need Help With Subframe & Seat Fitting

2010 530 xc-w. I only has 8hrs on bike so I have never had the seat off yet until today. After I removed the 8mm bolt that holds seat on,the seat did not want to come off. Finally it popped off with some forearm persuasion. Went to install the seat back with the new seat cover and no way will it go on. The seat will not sit flush where the bolt and seat bolt aluminum collar sit. Bike has never been off road and never crashed or even laid down. I loosened up the subframe to see if there was some leeway but It will still not sit down so I can bolt seat down. Here is a picture of the bike with the ruler, anybody want to measure theres I would appreciate it. I have a feeling the cross brace on top of the subframe was welded in the wrong place.

Mine doesn't fit either, never quite has. I have a trick though.

Put seat in place, rest it on the collar, smack hard with hand and voila! it pops into place and I put in the bolt.

Might work for you, has for me for the past 120+ hours.

yeah stock fuel tank, I've hit it with my hand, rubber mallet, the peoples elbow.
Nothing works. I'm going to probably remove subframe and re-weld it the way it is supposed to be. At least I'm not going crazy and I'm the only one.

Thanks

You could pull the tank, put the bolt in mounting upright it and tap it with the rubber mallet to move it forward just a little.

This might give you enough or just shave down the underside of the seat a little. It shouldn't take much.

Tried that. Then I shaved the tank where the seat went, then i shaved the seat prong where it meets the tank, then I enlarged the rear hole. It never fit right, but did eventually bolt up. Bike died in baja a year ago when it lost a cam chain, gave the tank to a friend for his 08 450 exc, he had similar issues. Stock or EE seat pan made no difference.

My seat it a tight fit with the 3.whatever Acerbis tank too. We've had to file the nut down on a few of our bikes to make the seats fit right, but most of them will slide into the right spot with a little persuasion (hit it - hard).

Make sure its located right on the front of the seat locater, then push the seat up onto the tank and hard forward.
It fit once when they built it,it will fit again.

I have two mounted on my bike...one on each handguard on the inner mount. Works great.
WOW! Those little lights flat put out the lumens!
Im not a big night time rider but better lights can be good in a clinch situation.
2 of those for 56.00 seems pretty fair.

Holy groundhog day! This thread should be locked... nobody reads it.
