It's very durable, I use it for our long distance desert trips as well as on tight single track. The bike has been over on its side numerous times with no damage to the light. When you clean up the wiring to use this light you could make a pigtail where the stock light unit would plug back in making a quick change setup back to the stock unit. I just run this unit all the Time. I have a buddy that uses the same light on his 530 and he's never managed to damage it either....knock on wood

Here's a link to the thread showing how I dealt will all the wiring behind the stock light. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ight=hodakaguy

The PMXTECH is much better than stock that is for sure, but still not great. I had it for the P2D in 2008 and realized it is still way under powered for any kind of use that needs to see anything. if you purchase that bulb from a dealer it comes with a different bulb housing that withstands the heat. The new bracket (not really a bracket, but the black piece of plastic the bulb mounts to) is a fibrous grey plastic.

Regardless nothing compared to the Trail Tech X2's or that monster 8" Hodakaguy has!

Careful with the 8" Dutchman, pretty sure it is not street legal up here even though lots of guys have used them... but then again, I'm sure half the lights on vehicles these days are probably illegal.

Thanks. I just heard from a guy on KTMtalk that the fan itself might actually be the same, so I am going to take mine apart and try again. Hopefully it will give me the bit more clearance that I need.

Steering lock was the weak point, it was definitely ducati-esque!
Right now it seems like I might be able keep the stock steering angle as my Mecasystem front fairing brackets are pretty narrow where the triples are - I assume that is the case with your new rally bike? Would be nice for tighter tracks and turning around.

They do add quite a bit of weight but the 525 tends to eat countershafts and break hubs if you run on the pavement without. On the 450/530 XC4 it's not as critical since it has a dampened clutch hub.

If you want it to be street legal I would get the version with the high/low switchable H4 bulb in the 7" Hella housing, same Trailtech frame. Boatman on this forum came up with it, and Cyclops Motorsports now carries it. Add a cheap HID conversion kit (not legal) and you'll have a TON of light.

I am looking at a new 2009 530exc left over. What should it be worth?

$7000.00 to $7500.00 would be a good price IMO.

Dealer wanted 7999. I offered 7000 but they wouldn't take it.

What is it worth? It is worth whatever you are willing to spend and whatever they are willing to let it go for... your job is to try to keep the lines of communication going to help you find that magic number (or price range.)

Did you guys negotiate a bit? I.E. when you offered them $7k, did they come back with something under $8000 or did they (or you) quit negotiating?

They didn't want to talk anymore. I am going to look for a used one.

You can get a 2010 Husaberg for $7999.00 from KTM-Parts.com. That would make a sweet Dual Sport bike.
