That 500 is purdy, but if it is an EXC where are the mirrors and turn signals.
However I'm partial to the black frame, black forks of my 08.

We need more details. Maybe a new thread.

Thanks Barrie , removing the valve cover did the trick, a bit of wrestling but better than removing the transfer case!

Did a google search and Gear 4 Direct has pricing listed for the whole new EXC Range! I'm sure the previous post was just a joke but how nice would a 2quart oil capacity be!

That may be but the 500 exc will be here next year. Lots of info out there...Knighter is racing it.

Don't worry they will install those crappy mirrors at the dealer.

Slightly Different topic:

My 2004 200 EXC has the old style (large) speedo with the Tripmaster bar mounted controls, and can display the Trip2 and Clock at the same time. This is very handy for timed enduros, because you can roll forward and back the odo in tenths.

I've searched, I've read through the manual, and this thread. Great stuff.

The manual shows how to change the display options, but it only seems to change the right half of the display. The speed is always present on the left half of the display. Did I miss something?

I would like to display the Clock and the Trip2 at the same time. I don't usually care about the speed.

Thanks!

Single sump, thinner engine. Probably FI. I'd not wait though, even now I'd run for a 530. Why waste time you could be riding and all the current bikes flaws are ironed out and/or easy to fix.

Yes it was a hinting joke to KTM , but a joke none the less.

My question is there really a 500exc coming?

I notice the bike in the photo has dual over head cams so shim under bucket, a real PITA to adj. Still has PDS shock system no link. Hmmmm? 350sxf link or 350exc no link.

Thats not it but it (exc500) is currently running the WEC if I'm not mistaken. I've seen a few pics on other forums, different side case covers and smaller cases. Look for David Knight pics.

I find it odd that they didn't go the other way as in 570 exc like the HUSA but hey. Is it the same basic motor I wonder ? Maybe they got the bugs worked out of it. The different side cases may add more oil capacity who knows. Only idiot would lessen the oil capacity on a bike with too little already.

New 500cc motor spied!

Yep new motor, look close at it, water pump clutch cover etc.. I'm guessing a single sump, notice how the bottom of the cases are level front to back unlike the xc-4 where the trans is higher than the power section. It still doesn't mean it holds much oil though. Just a hunchNew frame from the 350exc also. This looks like a lighter weight machine than the current 530. From the other photos it looks like it could be the same cylinder and head but the tank is in the view. I wonder if it has the Super reliable KTM EFI , looks like it might. 3 steps forward 4 steps back.

replacing countersprocket oil seal

Hi guys
Here is my problem:
2010 KTM530EXC leaking I think from the countershaft oil seal.
Only a little oil but still.
So I bought the parts, oil seal and o ring.
I have the sprocket and spacer off but my question is how do I remove the existing seal in the proper correct way. I tried to just lift it out but it looks like some force might be required in which case I want to make sure I am doing it right.

The new piece

The old piece that needs to be removed.

Any hints as to how to remove it?

Thanks so I checked online to see what these seal pullers were like. Turns out they look more like little claw hammers than what I expected them to look like (like a bearing puller). So it is kind of hard to get tools here, I realised that the torx keys I have would do that job and sure enough. Old seal out and new seal in. Thanks mate.
Cheers,
Mark
