I lived for years in those areas and know some real gems. PM me if you are interested.

Our route is hopefully going to be amazing.. from Idaho Falls to the Tetons, Yellowstone, Wyoming, and back to Idaho... if all goes well we'll have a good ride report to share.

Be safe!

Have you tried riding at night with that front fender bag yet? Mine blocked a significant amount of light.

It's a shame the bikes going to get dirty.....do you think you'll get it looking like that again?

Nope. The tiny little town I left from doesn't have a police station that is manned 24 hours a day and I left way before they opened in the morning. Of course I have my gps tracks and all of my gas receipts, but apparently that's not enough.

I will say there was basically no difference in the 910 miles I did the first day or the 1010 miles I did on the last day. I had it pretty much down to a science. I shifted around on the bike a lot to stay comfortable and stopped every 100 miles (my big tank would have actually gotten me much further) to stretch, eat a granola bar, use the facilities, and top off the tank. With breaks every 100 miles it really wasn't all that hard and I could have kept going farther if I had needed/wanted to.

HAHA!! So I like to take care of my stuff!!

Have you all seen HighFive's bike?! Dude rides crazy hard/fast(never crashes ) and he keeps his bike looking sharp! He's my motivation

AND I'll have you know, keeping my bike clean helps me keep my eye on the things I should be keeping an eye on, plus it gives me that new bike feel for like the first 15 mins of the ride :)

Here.. my bike after spending a hard day riding with BigDog !!!

It's beauty shall return

Bottom line: if you do everything on the list (may be missing something??), and do not add on a radiator guard, skidplate, and bark busters, you can lose about 17 lbs or so, max. Add those protective items and you are looking at about 10 lbs, max. If you're running Dunlop 606s, you are actually adding more than a pound of unsprung, rotating mass, to each end.

The bike is a heavy pig for what it is, and I'm not sure where all the weight is hidden.

Bass Lake - Still my favorite place to ride in CA.

Some things never change…….the Bass Lake area is STILL my favorite place to dual sport ride in CA……we rode ~400+ miles Friday through yesterday on some sweet single track through trees, across streams, over rocks………awesome trails/magnificent scenery…….I’ll be sorting through the pile and posting up some choice pictures on San Diego Adventure Riders (SDAR) website as time permits……but for now, here’s a teaser pic shot with my phone at Whiskey Falls……

Looks and sounds like Southern Missouri / Northern Arkansas to me :) Lots and lots of big trees, creeks, spring fed waterfalls in this area... I forgot you don't see trees all that much

Hey Craw.. you ever work brother?! hahaha!! Always love to see/hear about your rides.. thanks for always sharing!

True, not many trees at the beach in "Sun" Diego......we have to get by looking at smokin' hot beach babes instead........not a bad trade-off

Some of the trees up by Bass Lake are B-I-G (the Bass Lake riding area is on the southern end of Yosemite.....as in Mariposa Grove.....as in BIG trees)

Go here to get a general idea of where we were riding Friday-Monday:
