Interesting... My light came on right around 135 miles and I filled up with 2.506gallons at 143.8 miles.

I was flogging it on trails........were you street riding?

Yes and no. See my link above, a lot of it was running down the ORV trails and fire roads, more of it was on pavement at a spirited but not balls out pace. I average in the high 50mpg regardless of riding. :

Oh, I seem to ave around 45-50 so I wasn't surprised when it burped and quit at 149........the only time I get into the upper 50's is at altitude or commuting to work (all street)

I put a deposit on one the day the announcement was made. I have been waiting for a reliable GS type bike for a long time.

You have NO IDEA how bad I want one. I've been trying to figure out how to swing it ever since I heard they were coming here. And yes . . . I've read every single word ever written about them . . . including keeping up with all the threads here on adv about it.

I'm tempted to just go put my deposit on one and figure it out later.

Anybody want to buy a kidney?

Anyone running a spitfire windshield on their WRr? Do you have pics of the mounts (at the handlebars)? Do they fit ok with barkbusters, etc. on the bars?

I have one.. i use it for long rides on pavement.. it comes off easy for dirt riding. I took it this last june when i went to moab.

The mounts don't take much room.. i didn't have any problem finding a place for it on my very full handlebar.

I had some problems getting the Yamaha OEM factory vinyl installed on the "air scoops" or "tank shrouds" er whatever you call them. I'd done some vinyl in the body shops - even some really big stuff, but never on opposing compound curves and NEVER with vinyl this stiff.

Anyway, one of the inmates over in the other website had some problems putting vinyl on, so I put up a tutorial on what ~marginally~ worked for me putting the very overpriced 2009 WR250X graphics on new plastic recently.

I collected most of the info from some vinyl websites. Good thing; every trick almost wasn't enough.

More and better info available on the web, no doubt. Input welcomed from the vinyl pro's.

Aftermarket vinyl is supposedly MUCH higher quality and is softer and more flexible to help with these problems. Factory vinyl ain't soft at all IMHO.

I sure would love one. It along with about 6 other bikes on my short list (you don't want to know how many on my long list). However, even with the funds soon to be available, I just can't justify paying $20,000 for a bike rather than buying the 3 or 4 other bikes I could with the same money, so that pushes it down the list. Maybe once the other few bikes are in the garage and I'm back to the normal 3 - 5 bikes, I'll then go for a super-sized adventure tourer. Oh, that's another reason. I don't have the free time for long tours right now. Once that develops in the coming years, then I'll be more keen on a bike like that. Right now, the WR does pretty much everything except comfortable long distance rides (oh, it will do it, but not really comfortably). I'll add a mid-weight 2 cylinder adventure bike to fill that niche and then I'll have everything that I actually NEED to merely survive...then I start on the WANT list. Ha.

I am paying $12,500 for mine, yes a lot of money, but no where near $20K.
