So, after chatting with Bigdog, I started looking for WR's. I picked up galland1's WRX a week ago, and have been super impressed by it. With my broken leg , I won't be able to ride for quite a while, but it's nice to have it here pestering me...

Anyhoo, I got in some USCG reflective tape today to make my helmet a bit more visible, and thought I'd add some to the bike as well. Turned out nicely.
What is that front tire?

Look nice, but they are surprisingly expensive - $196 / pair at Motorcycle Superstore.

godwinmt;

How many miles on them so far and can you tell us a little about their hard surface feel and handling (wet/dry)???

ps. How is the physical therapy going? I did mine in Jan. and I'm still feeling it.

I wish I could tell you about how they are, but the extent that I've ridden the bike has been for about a hundred feet of my parents pushing me around our driveway :)

haven't had much physical therapy yet... the big thing now is getting the incisions and rash healed and getting the joints loosened up before my next checkup in a couple of weeks. after that, they'll schedule me for a bone graft to replace the 5cm of tibia that is currently just filed with bone cement. I doubt I'll be on the bike for another 4-5 months :(

JCKID - did you power-coat your rack? I don't see a black option on the website.

Also, the number of edge slots and edge holes / pattern are different between your rack and the silver one in the photos above. Anyone know why? I'd like to order the right rack the first time.

Look at the seller's other offerings. The large rack is $200.

Home-made Plexiglass headlight guard. Doesn't seem to affect headlight pattern (I very rarely ride at night anyway, so it's just for conspicuity), and so far heat hasn't affected the Velcro.

A person would want to be real careful with that setup if they had a habit of standing up sometimes while riding rough stuff.

No doubt. Foam swords can be hazardous to your health!

godwinmt,

A little prayer for strengthful healing. I guess you'll have to wait till after the Doc. can tell if the bone graft works correctly before starting physical therapy. We'll be waiting to hear your back on the road. From some one who also had to wait and heal in God's time.

Paul

thank you very much for the kind words. That's really all we can do is just wait and do our best to heal. Thanks to the awesome LED spotlight on it, my dad had it out for a bit last night riding around the pasture and up and down the gravel road we live on. he said in some of the wet grass the tires would slip a bit until he'd get on the throttle. he said they'd really bite then with the weight transfer. he had no problems on the gravel either.

Question dead in the water

Sooo....any gurus out there?

Installed an Athena 290 kit this weekend.
Some snafus but caught everything.

Took it out for a test ride, seemed to surge and basically run like shite.
Stopped ad did some fiddlin' with the FMF fuel controller after it stalled then came back on.
No biggie, that's happened before.

Then took it up on the freeway. Bad choice.
Went about a mile and it just died, dead...tow truck time.

I've checked the fuel pump, pumping fuel.
Checked for spark. Plug looked good, I have spark.
Took the FMF controller out of the loop.
Still it won't start or run....

Cam timing looks spot on...

I'm scratchin' my head here.
