That Ktm screen looks good. Keen to see it mounted more.

Do any of these screens make the wind on the helmet visor worse, or hopefully better? I use a hornet. Don't find it to bad, but the larger klim one is better in the wind oddly. Just not as convenient.

Wish I could read German.

I'd be interested in one of those Euro lights also... to replace a cheap, junky Edge tail light that got ruined by water and mud in just one year.

While it looks similar to the the as used on the WR250/450F, I suspect those only work as a tail light (no brake light). Can anyone confirm?

It is all in there. This assembly has got several components spread over several sheets.

Thanks that helps tremendously--I have part numbers now. Is there a site I can order from online? It seems no one out of the US does this--liability? Too sad that what we have come to if that is the case. I tried to buy from the UK once but without a UK VIN they would not speak to me.

The US spec WR450 tail light can be mounted--I have seen that done already---but I am hell bent on keeping the stock turn signals so I need that black piece at bare minimum, prefer the whole works. The US WR light should also have a brake light but have not seen one personally--the guy that did it said it did.

I just sourced a US spec WR250/450F tail light & will see what happens when I receive it.

You can get an LED replacement or LED with built in turn signals out of Austrailia here:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-WR2...item53e9693676

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-WR2...item53e9693676

I am not saying any of these options are a direct fit or plug & play--just saying it should be doable with some tinkering. We will see what happens when I get my US spec "F" light & go from there (as I said I have seen others do it already--just dont know what they had to do).

I think we have the same tail light here in australia as the euro one... Did you want me to try and price anything? Parts are not cheap here unfortunately...

Yes the AUS & Euro are the same.

I ordered a US spec dirt only model tail light & I think it is the same or very similar to the Euro spec. At this time I am going with that. I still need the black piece part number 3D7-84516-00. Once I find a source for that I should have what I need. If you could link me to a place I could order that Yamaha part online from AUS or anywhere else I should be golden. Thanks.

There is a lot of discussion / debate on the advantages of these mods both buried here in the mega thread and also over on the WR Forum. I think it was High Five who I remember suggesting that either do the whole ball of wax or nothing. By that I mean you are unlikely to note any real change with just the airbox. So with this in mind I went with the usual: airbox, AIS removal, EXUP removal, graves bypass, exhaust and fuel programmer. Personally, I am happy with this and feel it really opened up the bike and gave it a snappier feel. Others may disagree. I guess you should ask yourself what you are hoping to achieve. The WR is a great bike, but in many respects is underpowered IMO. I suspect the airbox mod alone is unlikely to really change that equation. YMMV.
As to the MPG question, I currently get in the mid 40s. Then again I tend to ride pretty throttle heavy on this bike both on road and off. My solution was a Safari tank. Others have reported much better MPG, but the only way I can seem to improve my MPG is to ride very sedately.
Good luck with whatever changes you decide on.
Dan

Mike5000 - Check ebay. There's always at least one or two WRR's being parted out and the yard doing the posting might have something.

Well, I routinely get over 50 mpg on the super slab, where I've pretty much got the throttle to the stop or just off the stop. If I'm riding higher speed gravel roads like the Pony Express Trail, I get about 65mpg. That is cruising about 45-55mph using the top 3 gears.

My Safari has delivered me 230 miles range, but I was trying to stretch it. Took 3.5 gals, so still not sure if the wings will drain completely. Purty close, though!

Does anyone have a link to the best (cheapest) place to get a replacement chain slider that mounts to the front of the swingarm?

I got quoted $48 by my local dealer.

My kid did the same thing to his WR450F. I just welded the broken out hole in solid and redilled and tapped it. Quick cheap fix.
