rear rack

I bought my '09 WRR last July, and it had only a Speedohealer, otherwise it was bone-stock (3,500km / 2,000 miles).

It needed farkling in the worst way, but after buying the WRR, I had no motorcycle money left. I lucked out and found a local seller who parted with a Flatland skid-plate and GYTR rack, $100 for both.

Anyway, the GYTR rack was a steal at $50, but it wasn't my first choice rack. I'd much rather have an anodized billet aluminum rack, but for the price, I was pleased.

Decided to do something about the rack, something a bit larger, without the sharp down-turned edges on the GYTR, and with a rear slot for an additional Rokstrap. I drew it up, and a handy friend cut the 1/4" alum. plate for me. Mounted it today to confirm fit, before I remove it for rattle-can painting. Total cost was $1 for screws and $15 for a nice bottle of wine for my friend. I am pleased.

For comparison, the GYTR on top:

I have slowly added a few more accessories, as funds allow:

BarkBuster Storm handguards
Double Take mirrors (from a bike I sold last year)
Freedom Case saver & guard
Tusk 1-1/4" handlebar risers
Seat Concepts carbon
replaced the OEM Trailwing tires
Wolfman E-14 saddlebags, enduro tool bag, and enduro tank bag (the latter also from a sold bike).

Can't wait until Spring!

Still needs to be field tested, but should work good.
The foam should break during a spill, instead of bending the frame.

Here is the flap I got:

You're telling me you prefer that over the stock unit?

It was easier to add this, than to figure out how to re-attach the stock tail that came in a box with the bike..

Thumb New Color

Just a brief post to show a new color choice, Blue Oval Wrinkle Powder Coat. Same color used on Ford Racing valve covers. Here are some pics:

Flat anodized blue on the left, Blue Oval wrinkle in the middle and Gloss anodized Blue on the right.

Up close pic.

PM or email for questions, I have one made up and can make more.

Thanks again to all for the support!

I had a Graves on mine and hated it. It's well made and looks nice but it's also obnoxious loud and has no spark arrestor

As muddy as I get with the stock unit, I can't imagine how bad the short ones are.

And no trees to set on fire either.

Finally got a 10 minute break in the rain to get the new WR out and take her picture, then ride about three miles before the sleet started. Damn.

I live about one mile from National Forest roads and am foaming at the mouth to get out there and try this thing on them for more than two minutes. With all the moisture we've had recently it's nice and muddy, too! Can't wait.

Congrats. You have ants in your pants just like me when I bought mine back in December. Funny thing is I've still got them. I eat up every chance I can to get out on mine. Looks like you got some great farkles out it. I got a good deal on mine, but it was bone stock so now I'm having to do a lot of modding. To a fellow VA'er, if you find a lot of good trails out near you I may need to make a trip out to ride.
