Hi Garmin Mac,
I see on the requirement that you need a G4 processor at least.

Would it work on G3 ?

I am trying to find a cheap mac to test things out before forking out the money for a new macbook.

I can find bunch of G3 for cheap, but not G4 or intel.

let me know
thx

Bobcat will probably run on a G3, however at a very reduced speed and quality. The recommened G4 is so that you get a decent level of performance while running the software.

FYI - I've tried it here on an iBook G3 (500mhz) and it will not run under 10.3.9; requires 10.4 or higher.

10.4 on a G3 is very slow. I'm sure Bobcat would be near painful on that class of hardware even if it would run.

Good question.

I ordered it online on Monday from Garmin and the website said ships 1 to 3 days. Went back to check my order yesterday and website said still processing (day 4). Now I go back today and it says still processing but products ship in 1 to 2 weeks.

I'm doing the Minuteman 1000 in two weeks and want to take my G4 laptop for routing. Fingers are crossed.

Not retarded, you need to export your tracks, not your routes. The routes will just log the waypoints and not the navigation in Google Earth. The tracks will appear squiggly like you want.

If you have a previous version of CN NA NT installed you can use the MapUpdate 2009. It has both the Mac and PC version on the DVD. it installed fine on my Mac, my Virtual PC and the other half's PC, as well as updated my Zumo while it was connected to the Mac.

It is availalbe from several online resellers, GPS City, Tiger GPS, and others should have it also. I've not seen it on Garmin's site yet.

I'm a gps noob, so I don't have any previous software - but I've got a new 60CSx that I'm trying to figure out. I'll definitely check my local BestBuy.

Thanks. I was hoping for something to aid in the planning stage of a route, and not just a fly-over of what I just rode.

I am working on that as well. Brian said they are releasing a beta with a track tool, but unfortunately it's not out yet.

Bastard, still sitting here waiting and no response from Garmin on the ship date. Should have just gone local, but figured Garmin would have had it first.
