That was a great trip....whoo...I'm worn out. It reminds me of a trip I took to death valley....I was on my first Dual-Purpose bike....ok...now don't laugh...it was a TW200....it was a fun bike in Death Valley. I went everywhere without a problem. Now I have a DRZ-400s to play with. I hope to see more ride reports soon. I lived in N. CA for 25 years and I miss it most terribley.
Cheers!

Really terrific report. I envy you lucky bastards out West that can ride for days with fantastic scenery, great weather, big sky, no humidity. Like you, my first adv ride started with a grossly overloaded bike and found I had to back way off on my expectations in the dirt.

If I recall, and I can't really see it in you photo, I believe the signs says 85.5 meters. But it don't make no nevermind, it is still one ugly ass/beautiful place!

Vince,
A most excellent report and write up!! Now I'm really wishing we would have had the chance to fly together in the past. Hell, I might have moved out west to bash rocks and drink beer with you instead of bashing alligators and drinking beer here in Florida!! Well done my man!! AD PS... Now I've gotta go drag my clunky Suzuki DR out and go get dirty, all because of you!! ADulay screwed with this post 05-10-2008 at 01:34 PM |

Thanks AD, yeah you can still come out here and bash rocks with me, after all, youre just retired, not dead. You are welcome to come out and ride anytime my friend. Too bad I was on the Pantyliner while you were on the Whale, would have been good shit to fly together. Although we would have gotten into big trouble in the P.I.

It was kinda fun just taking a road not knowing where the hell it goes, a luxury you can afford when you carry enough gas to blow up half of death valley. I just finished reading your awesome 07 DV report this morning, makes me want to take my 450 next time instead of the 990. Awesome stuff mate! It was a first DV trip for me, and there will defiantely be many more in the future.

10 gallons...man, I could go for days on that.
I've been there 4 years in a row now and can't get enough. Been through once this year already and am cooking up plans for the fall again.
